There is one very simple way to defend Newton...
Kill the head and the body will die.
OK that needs to be rephrased so that Herr GODell doesn't get all power mad and suspend the entire NFC South for using a common saying but the theory works.

He may not slump but defenses will take away what he likes to do.  Bottom line he may not slump but will be less productive IMO .

My plan would start with spying him with Q Black/Watson because of size and speed they'll match up. Then rotate in Grimm to show a different look. If all else fails we kidnap him at halftime and tie him up.

Curious side note....Gerald McCoy has never played vs. Cam Newton in the NFL. Maybe if he stays healthy he and Clayborn can be the difference makers that don't allow Cam to find a groove.

Aggression will lead to over pursuit with this young group. I'd rather pull Black out and run a nickel package. Let David spy with Barron in run support. With Barber, Talib, Wright, and Biggers/Black. If you remember he did throw for 4 TD's against us last year, plus I think we will see allot of this nickle package. Schiano will be doing everything he can to get Quincy off the field.

legitimate statement. An inside rush can really mess up a mobile QBs day. People have to be assignment sound though or else he will still slide out of the pocket. Theres no question that McCoy can only help their chances.

I'd be more afraid of Drew Brees.

Well we've beat Drew Brees 2 out of 4 times in the last two years. We played Cam twice and he humiliated us both times.

Depends on the context. Was he "outstanding" when looking at the 2010 Bucs D and what he did as a rookie...Ok...I can accept that.

Is he outstanding when comparing him to other safeties around the league...nope. That is why I say he is average...because he definitely isn't one of the best...and definitely isn't one of the worst.

Average shouldn't be looked at as not good.

Hard to imagine a guy who may have lost a step because of injuries and most likely wont even start as "the answer"

If you want to start this argument up again, there is another thread for it. I'm good though.
