Stafford is considered good now? Eh..
when you throw for 5,000 yards and 40 tds I'd say so.

You can bet if Freeman had done it, Half the posters would be proclaiming him the best QB in the NFL.

You realize the Lions never ran the ball and his numbers would be no where close to where they were without Megatron right? Megatron bailed him out so many times last year it was ridiculous.

Are you really dismissing 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns that easily?  Sure, the Lions didn't run the ball.  And yes, Calvin Johnson is one of the most physically gifted athletes in the history of North American sports.  But production is production.  And that level of production is good.

Of course Megatron helps, and of course everyone is afraid his arm might fall completely off ever snap, but there is no arguing that Stafford was a very good QB last year.

Yes, it was good production, but I'm just saying his numbers are inflated. I'm not calling him a top 10 QB yet. Dude can't stay healthy, and he's only done well for 1 year.

It's about consistency. Freeman was a top 10 QB in 2010, then he sucked in 2011. Stafford was a top 5 QB in 2011....but he sucked as a rookie and missed almost his entire sophmore year due to injury. Neither guy has shown the consistency to be considered great yet. Same goes for Newton.

Hate to say it, and I'm sure I'll be flamed for saying it, but when you look at consistency.....Matt Ryan is the best young QB. He isn't great, but he is consistently good.

You cant fault Stafford for having Calvin Johnson. Should we default Joe montana for having Jerry Rice; and yes i like Freeman but Stafford imo is a better QB then Freeman. They both have had one good year but in terms of passing mechanics and being able to go through progressions i'll take stafford

Matt Ryan is essentially a younger Tony Romo....he will put up #'s that makes him look like a good-great QB...but when the playoffs come around....

*cough* *cough* *choking noise*

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

Is throwing the ball to megatron when he's open , or throwing a jump-ball to megatron when he's covered considered a "progression" ??
