Megatron bailed him out so many times last year it was ridiculous.

And yes, Calvin Johnson is one of the most physically gifted athletes in the history of North American sports. But production is production. And that level of production is good.
You can bet if Freeman had done it, Half the posters would be proclaiming him the best QB in the NFL.
It's about consistency. Freeman was a top 10 QB in 2010, then he sucked in 2011. Stafford was a top 5 QB in 2011....but he sucked as a rookie and missed almost his entire sophmore year due to injury. Neither guy has shown the consistency to be considered great yet. Same goes for Newton. Hate to say it, and I'm sure I'll be flamed for saying it, but when you look at consistency.....Matt Ryan is the best young QB. He isn't great, but he is consistently good.
Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.
being able to go through progressions i'll take stafford
