Erza is trying reconcile two entirely different topics and that won't work-imvho.  Romney's article was a description of how he would have overseen the bankruptcy - as you know the handling was ... well it created winners as opposed to following bankruptcy law.  Ryan's point is simply Obama's word didn't match up with the outcome.   

Ezra also did a pretty good job at explaining why Ryan's comments about the issue were misleading and dishonest. I also disagree that they are two entirely different topics. How do you attack the other guy for not doing something that you yourself swore you would not do? That's kinda like attacking the other guy for doing something that you yourself plan to do, like...say...faulting him for cutting Medicare when you yourself have proposed a plan to cut Medicare for the same amount. Oh...wait...

There is actually 2 subjects here.

1. The substance of what Ryan said, as you point out is criticizing Obama of something that he would have done, or at least not stopped himself.

2. Did Ryan lie? I think the categorical answer to that is no. 

Obama may well have opened his yapper in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he might have been sticking his oar in something he didn't fully understand (surprise!) but he said what he said and at the very least heavily implied he would keep the plant open. He didn't. Pretty straight forward. it's a bit like the "you didn't build that" line. You can argue what Obama actually meant, but you can't deny that he said it. And, like all politics people will jump on what you say. To argue that he didn't say any of these things a bit stupid, especially when it's on tape.

He was incorrect on a several points (Obama took us into Afghanistan?); he was incoherent at times; he was offensive; he detracted from the two more important speakers:  the nation seemed to talk more about Eastwood's monologue rather than the candidate's speech.

Bill Maher loved Eastwood:

"As a performer, as a stand-up comedian for 30 years who knows how hard it is to get laughs, excuse me, he went up there … without a net, on a tightrope. There was no teleprompter. He did a bit with just an empty chair and killed,” Maher said. “He committed to it, it was consistent and it worked.”
“People have been saying for years: these conventions are too scripted, they’re too slick, they’re too overproduced,” he added. “A guy who went up there who wasn’t slick … and killed with the crowd? I gotta give him props for that.”

Sure, props for having the balls to do what he did, but from the standpoint of the RNC, Eastwood got more attention from the media than the nominee.
So big FAIL on the RNC's part.

Dumb planning, incoherent, inaccurate - and Maher comes clean.  Perhaps you guys should consider that, the coming clean.  It isn't necessary to disagree, but to intentionally mislead - that a Big Effin Deal...

Maher defended the performance, not the message.  The biggest problem with the speech is that it was the only thing people were talking the next day.  Rubio gave a great speech and no one has mentioned it..

And that's why it's hard to take the republicans serious. There is a group picture of the republicans after Romneys speech circulating the web and it's all white people save for what looks like one asian. Why don't they just come out and say they represent white american only?

No. More like that the country will tread water for another 4 years. Harry Reid in the Senate refuses to pass a budget and the GOP in the House is not going to work with a socialist in the White House. So we will remain politically dead-locked while the national debt continues to soar. We are slowly bleeding to death.

The Democrats won't take back the House. In fact, they could potentially lose the Senate.. Obama lacks the ability to lead in a bipartisan fashion to get work done. Bill Clinton knew how to work with a Republican congress and make accomplishments. Obama is clueless on how to do this. He'll talk Thursday of all these hopes and dreams. The guy is a great motivational speaker. But he's a horrible president. Polls show that. People like Obama as a person, but his approval rating hovers around 40-45%.

I agree - Maher has different beliefs, but he recognized the presentation and message getting out due to the style.

There's nothing about Maher that I like. I don't care one way or another what his opinions are.  Don't know why anyone would care what he has to say about anything.  He's a fool, in my opinion.

If you look back to 2008, you'll see that a lot of politicians (like Mitt) recommended similar programs to the stimulus that Obama implemented.
