Simply not true.  You read the same reports.  Bush was told in a period of weeks or months somewhere on the planet their would be an attack from Bin Laden.  You are thing the Ouija board should have provided date, time and location for Bush.  Or that he should have put a lock down on the airports, or perhaps brought the Patriot Act out pre 9-11 to prevent it.

Well, here's a novel idea, when the CIA is telling you that Osama Bin Laden is planning a major attack somewhere, at sometime, how about you follow up with "So what resources do you need to narrow down a time and place?" insead of, "Since you don't have every shred of information I need to act right at this moment, I'm just going to ignore it." Like I said, Bush was told this info months in advance of the attacks. Just because all the information wasn't provided at that time doesn't mean more couldn't have been discovered ahead of time had serious attention been paid. I never said that Bush absolutely could have stopped 9/11, just that he possibly could have. He had the time, and he had the manpower at his disposal to at least try, and chose not to. That isn't political spin, that is a fact.

Then you flip and offer it would have taken some sort of genius to order security for all foreign embassies throughout the middle east on the anniversary of 9/11.  I am startled that is not AUTOFRICKINMATIC

You want to criticize lack of security, that's fine. But there were three other 9/11's on Obama's watch that didn't involve US embassies getting attacked. Obviously, there were certain factors at play that made this one different. Maybe there was information that he could have had that would have changed things, maybe not. We will see. But regardless of that, this is not comparable to 9/11. That comparison is asinine. Period.

CBW - it is not my characterization of the Bush security meeting - it is the information from the article used to being the performance assassination.  Somewhere on the planet in the next days or weeks.  No one was pulled from their jobs and sent on furlough.  The meetings and reports continued on a daily basis.  I am not downplaying the tragedy, but one can be extraordinarily accurate looking backward and determining the shortcomings of others.

And what about the other 3 9/11s?  Really - what about the first through the tenth of September 2001?  Do you recall attacks on the US those days that I missed?  Being unable to acknowledge the obvious comparison is asinine.  So - here we are, a couple of asses.  Thanks for putting up with my pov.  Take care

Egypt's General Intelligence Service warned that a jihadi group is planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo, according to a report Tuesday by Egypt Independent, citing a secret letter obtained by Al-Masry Al-Youm.

According to the report, the attack is being planned by Global Jihad, the group suspected of killing 16 Egyptian border guards in Sinai on August 5.

Al-Masry Al-Youm reportedly obtained a copy of the September 4 letter, sent to all Egyptian security sectors, warning that Sinai- and Gaza-based Global Jihad cells were planning attacks on the two embassies.

Egypt's military is engaged in an ongoing campaign to root out Sinai-based terrorists.

The reaches people are going to in order to defend their Obama vote is a real travesty.  Mind boggling in fact.  Bordering on insanity.  Never put a group of people or person in front of your ideals.  I would tell you to read a history book but who knows if that is the truth anymore.

No, the real travesty is in you trying to act as though this and 9/11 bare even the slightest resemblance just so you can defend Bush's inaction on CIA intelligence. Going through the differences yet again is pointless, as you have clearly decided to make it a partisan tit-for-tat. If anyone is politicizing either tragedy, its you three.

Inaction on intelligence that resulted in deaths is inaction on intelligence that resulted in deaths.  As much as you would like it to be true, there is no difference.  It's probably happened under every administration over the last few decades - at least.

The cable did not discuss any specific threat, the official said. It warned instead about the existence of the movie being posted on the internet and the fact that it was gaining attention. A seven minute portion of the movie aired on an Egyptian TV talk show the weekend before the protests started, according to a Department of Homeland Security/Federal Bureau of Intelligence memo obtained by CNN on Thursday.

The cable was not sent to the embassy in Tripoli, Libya or the consulate in Benghazi. US officials have said there was no intelligence ahead of the attack in Benghazi, which intelligence officials still believe was not planned. The White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday there was no "actionable intelligence" indicating an attack was being planned.

There are hundreds if not thousands of cables sent each day, the official said, and there was no specific threat attached to this one, because a specific threat was not known.

CNN's site has conflicting stories - one of which outlines a meeting with Embassy members that warned of impending protests/violence (the two are seemingly inseparable in the Middle East) with said warning 48 hours prior to attack in Libya.  Unless we are to assume the resident Embassy members chose to withhold the information from their security contacts US authorities knew of the threat.
