I wouldn't say that.  Manziel had more yards than both guys, but that's it.  Both Tebow and Newton had more TD's.

Really, they never had any merit.

What was Clemson's average score before playing South Carolina, and how many points did they score on SC?
What was FSU's average score before playing Florida, and how many points did they score on Florida?

We see this play out ever bowl season.  Some high-flying offense (Oklahoma v. Florida, Oregon v. Auburn) plays a SEC defense and they are held to half of their scoring average.

I am probably being overly conservative, but to trademark "Johnny Football" is a tad arrogant in my opinion.  I'm already getting tired of hearing about this guy unless he becomes the next Peyton Manning or something, then he deserves it.
