Ronnie Lott was drafted with the #7 pick in the draft as well.   But he was absolutely DOMINANT by this point in his NFL career.   Barron may be a bust.

Lott was drafted 8th overall and played 4 years at CB before moving to safety.

That's right.   The Bucs were rumored to want to pick Lott at #7, but took Hugh Green since he slid.   And Lott was taken one spot later.

Lott was dominant immediately.  And the fact that he was taken one spot later than Barron is even more of an insult to Barron.   Could Barron play corner as well as safety?   Not likely.

Well, if you put it that way...   If Barron had been an undrafted free agent, he would be doing ok.   Kudos to the rare guys who excelled like that who were not drafted though.
