Unfortunately, I don't think Tebow is going to play QB in the NFL for much longer and if he refuses to make the position change. I think he will be out of the league.
Here is why.
No coach is willingly going to design an offense exclusively for Tim Tebow in the offseason and actually go into the season with that as their primary gameplan (except maybe McDaniels)
If John Fox wasn't willing to do it after actually winning a playoff game with the system and neither is Rex Ryan. Then no one is.
So that rules him out as being a starter.
No team with a questionable starting QB is going to bring him in as a back up because of the media nightmare that comes with it. Your starting QB falters even a little, everyone is going to be calling for Tebow.
So that rules out even more teams.
Now we get to teams with good QBs that have a 0% chance of having a QB controversy.
In your back up QB you want a crisp, smooth passer that can carve up vanilla practice defenses. You want a guy that can get your back up WRs into a rhythm and maybe even get your starters into a rhythm if the starter has to sit out a day.
Tim Tebow is an absolutely terribly practice QB. He completes (allegedly) less than 40% of his practice passes. That is NOT going to get your team into a rhythm and puts you at a disadvantage going into Sunday.
As a pure backup you want a guy like Luke McCown, Kyle Orton, Dan Orlovsky, or Rex Grossman.
They aren't the answer and can't produce well for more than 1 or 2 games at a time.
However, they can throw pretty spirals in practice and get your guys into a rhythm and point out defensive reads mid-game.
Tebow can't do those things.
Also, teams with an elite QB are not going to take them off the field for any snaps to run some cute wildcat packages with their backup.
So that rules out being the back up for teams with an elite QB.
So where does that leave Tebow in this league?
