The Rays attendance is terrible no matter what Sternberg tries to do. Tickets are already among the lowest in MLB. You can bring your own food in the game. They've tried increasing payroll. Still no matter what, people won't come out. But guest what is sky high? The TV ratings. People want to watch the game in HD at home for free. And I think that's the same thing with the Bucs. Some of it is, but the fact is, the people do not have disposable income. In most cases, people are living from paycheck to paycheck. I don't understand how that's even arguable at this point. You have a team that was once beloved, now playing at a great level (like we always hoped in an offense), but yet people won't come out? I'd go to every game if I had the money, including away, but again, disposable income needed. Remember, only about 10 percent of people in Tampa area have genuine disposable income. The rest are poor, middle class families, or snowbirds that bring their team pride with them (they do nothing for the economy they actually raid).People saying other people are not fans or fairweather because they chose to feed/cloth/keep their families instead of going to games, are dnozzles. This is NOT on the people of Tampa being "bad fans," and anyone who thinks so probably makes more money than they're actually worth. As the saying goes, "money doesn't grow from trees." Plainly put, people have better things to spend their hard earned money on. Rays or Bucs, it doesn't matter. Fans would fill those stands if they were able to. Nearly everyone would rather GO to the game than see it on T.V. Just watch their eyes light up when you tell them you're going... Heck, I went to the Pats/Bucs PS game and nearly got five other people (besides my regular friend) to buy tickets and go with me, but they all separately canceled due to money issues. All because I said I was going, they knew they had a ride there and back, and didn't have to pay parking...they wanted to go (never asked them), yet still didn't have the money to sacrifice.Yes, like booze, cigarettes, drugs and hookers. THAT money is ALWAYS there...The last guy I knew that went to one, well...., it was his bachelor party. And that was three months ago. Everyone pooled up to get him A drink and a couple of dances. People are taking paycuts, or getting laid off left and right, without an opportunity to work elsewhere.Meanwhile, Detroit gets 98.1% capacity...I know, I know, that Detroit economy is on the up and up!!!As I said, no one wants to discuss "the problem" just want to talk smack.Where are you season tickets located by the way?People keep "discussing the problem" and a lot blame it on the economy...no? As I said, that Detroit economy is doing really well so I understand how they keep getting 98.1% capacity at their games!!!As for your question to me, I'm not gonna discuss my situation again...been there, done that...with you, it's pointless.I'm going to the game Sunday and am going to the Eagles games which makes 4 games for me this season. Considering I live in MD, I'm gonna say that's pretty good.#blowmea lot of different reasons have been discussed, the only one you, joe, hate, and many others seem to want to point to is the fan base sucking with no real regard for any real reasons.good for you about being there this Sunday. Like I've said before if all the whiners put their money where their mouth was and bought season tickets and donated tickets for the games they couldn't attend, well we'd surely have that sell out you and joe so desperately desire .....

save it clown. you claimed to live in baltimore and that you'd be lucky to go to 1 game this year earlier in the season. now you go to the games? which is it?
How dare I not supply other Bucs "fans" w/tickets!!!
Quote from: jhop88 on November 23, 2012, 09:40:09 PMHow dare I not supply other Bucs "fans" w/tickets!!!The Glazers should buy them. They're the ones who screwed the area over for years causing the disinterest in the team we see today. But if you are complaining about bay area fans, then you yourself should step up and buy tickets and give them away.
It's not the fan base, it's the Glazers. You can't try to anally rape your fans for a few years then expect them to trust you again overnight. If ever.
No need to bring up Detroit. It's not the economy. There are plenty of people here who can afford those tickets. Problem is the Glazers tried to screw them over. Will they hold a grudge forever? I don't know. But I still do.(5 year olds hold a grudge for 5 minutes. Their attention span is short.)
a lot of folks try to explain the attendance exclusively using the economy. there is more. not saying the economy and ticket prices aren't part of it. but as Java noted, a fair portion is a response go glazer actions. better feelings between the old fan base and the glazers would help the attendance problem.
Did you ever make a deal - or what you thought to be a deal - with someone you trusted - then have that party turn on you. that happened. as for the 30 dollar tickets- helpful - but unless that makes up the full 15% that is missing there is more to do.

You 2 should get a room.I just got a text from my friend who is a Carolina fan ripping Tampa fans for the game being blacked out this Sunday. This fan base is pathetic...I do my part and I don't even live near Tampa let alone FL.
