I stood my ground on him when the Eagles signed him saying he was past his prime and not worth the money. I also pointed out how he was a great cover corner but did NOT cause turnovers as often as everyone wants to think. He had one great year and nothing before or after that. I'd take him league min but not much more than that.

Apparently nobody cares that Babin is one of the worst DEs in the league against the run, he is only a gimmick player out of the Wide 9 system and is having a woeful year after a great year last year. He's also regarded as a locker-room cancer by Eagles fans and reporters. Not sure Dom would go for him.

Yeah because Talib and Eric Wright were such upstanding role models by pill popping.

Exactly. That is what we need. We have run stopping DEs galore but no pressure on the QB. This guy has 36 sacks over the past 2 1/2 seasons.

Not to mention fans griping about their team (when its truly awful) love to get rid of players that have major contracts.

We can pick up Babin and then just cut Quincy Black.

With QB, Trueblood, and Wright gone that opens up about 17 million.

I will take Babin over Bowers at this point.

Bowers is not going to be a double digit sack guy...lets just get over that right now.

He was considered a top 5 prospect at one point for a reason you know. He led the NCAA in sacks in 2010.

Sure college production doesn't mean anything in the NFL, but the same people saying that Bowers is never going to be a double digit sack guy are going to be in support of drafting some other prospect this year just based off of their college performance. I can guarantee right now that any DE around the 15-20 range will not be as good of a prospect as Bowers was. The only real knock on him is his degenerative knee, which hasn't showed itself to be a problem as yet. If he didn't have that issue, you're looking at a guy who would have been a top 10 pick.

Part of the reason our secondary sucks so friggin bad is because we let the QB become a statue just standing in the pocket with ZERO pressure. ANYONE can get open when the pass rush sucks royal ass like ours.

No Pass Rush is part of the reason we are the worst 3rd down D in the league as well.

Yes. We'll need to pay Bennett, but Clayborn and Bowers are cheap for the next 3 years, so his contract will expire when it's time to resign Bowers/Clayborn. Not an issue. Besides, almost all of his guaranteed money was paid up front. He only has $600k left so we could cut him at any time with almost no loss.

Having Bennett, Clayborn, Bowers, and Babin next year would also allow us to concentrate on CBs in the draft.

Thats all good and well in the past but he fell for a reason and I think he might just be a tad bit overrated by our fans. We look at what the "pundits" and mock drafts had for Bowers and just get all googly eyed with the "potential". But I just can't say I see it right now. With all his injury issues, its just something I can't see.

Plus with him being a LDE...I doubt he gets those #s.
