So Mr. Dockett has been getting more and more irritable in Arizona. (who can blame him?) Seems he has had enough and by the sounds of it, he's probably on his way out of town. Now he'll be 32 before the start of next season, but should we still go after him? He'd be a short term addition, probably 3 years, but I love the intensity that guy plays with. He's great at getting pressure and stopping the run, and he was great as a 4-3 DT.....now that the Cardinals are a 3-4 he plays DE and it isn't a great fit. I'd love to see us make a move for him. Maybe trade for him this offseason. I have a feeling if they decide to get rid of him, they'd take a late round pick just to be rid of his contract. He has three years left, making about $9M a year. That's a lot, but we pay McCoy $13M a year and he's half the player Dockett is!

So what do you think? Is he too old? Is $9M/year too much?

I agreed with everything you said until there, but I would want us to go and get him tho. He would bring a lot of intensity to the front 4.

would love to bring dockett in. guy is a captain and leader of the cardinal defense and was a probowler until they switched to the 3-4 and started wasting his talents. would bring veteran experience and leadership to a very young defence

I wonder how much the teammate who just had his face spit in likes him?

Yes, the player who has 1.5 sacks this year (along with not having more than 5 since 2009) is twice the player that Gerald McCoy, the main cog in the #1 rush defense (along with 5 sacks so far) is. Switching to the 3-4 certainly didn't help Dockett's statline but the good players find a way to get it done. Any Cardinals fan will tell you his play has steadily declined since 2009.

Dockett's not a leader...he's a punk. He's a POS who was just fined 6 figures by his own team due to insubordination (staff told defense to lay down and let offense score so the Cards could get the ball back, he refused to listen) then spit in his own teammate's face (Kerry Rhodes) when confronted about it. This is the same guy who tried to ruin Earnest Graham's career in college by furiously twisting his leg, trying to do any amount of damage possible. Dockett is about the furthest thing from Schiano's ideal "Buccaneer Man." All that on top of his ridiculous contract (you think we overpay McCoy and you want to bring Dockett and his current contract on?!?! LOL!) No chance the front office even sniffs him imo.

I say do it. Him next to McCoy would be very solid with the 3 DEs. Grab a pass rush specialist as well. Of course sign/draft your corners. Then the defense is looking pretty solid.

I would think he'd need to restructure considering his age, but I think he's still got at least three good years in him.

You can give your opinion without name calling btw. The only POS punks I know are guys that name call from behind their keyboard.

I'm not namecalling you or any fellow reader...I'm calling Dockett what he is. A POS out there on the field. How many "good guys" do you know that have spit in their own teammate's face when their teammate was asking them to follow the gameplan? All the guys who do that usually have outstanding personalities. And all the winners I know usually try to seriously injure their opponents well after the play is over...that takes true character. Should I have sugarcoated it for you? Just voicing my opinion on the field and what I've seen.

"The only POS punks I know are guys that name call from behind their keyboard." You do realize that by typing that you are actually calling me a POS punk from behind your own keyboard? Funny how that works. Guess I'm in good company, huh? Next time, before criticizing a public figure who makes millions of dollars and doesn't give a damn what I say or think, I'll try and get in contact with him and make sure it's okay before putting my thoughts in an obscure thread on a Bucs message board.

Back to the topic at hand...

Abso-freaking-lutely

but I think he's still got at least three good years in him.

extremely debatable.

probably alot since both players said that didnt happen. dunno what the other guy has to gain from lying whether it happened or not. it doesnt mean a damn thing to me since we need DT depth

If we are talking about spending $ on DL upgrades, then I would much rather spend the $9mil and got try to nab Cliff Avril.

Until preseason, you stay classy Red Board.

Dockett wasn't fined six figures by the Cardinals for nothing.

hard to get sacks as a 3-4  DE where your responsibility is the run game and the OLBs go for the sacks. do a little research and look at his career in the years he was playing 4-3 DT. he was extremely disruptive.

i have no problem with him refusing to quit because the coaches told him to. the guy has pride and hes a competitor and itsnt going to quit. that coaching staff is on the way out anyway so that tells you how good they are. the fact that he was playing hard in an utter beatdown of a game should tell you what kind of payer he is

yeah the earnest graham thing was dirty but hes far from the only player to do that. that crap happens on every play of a football game in the pile. dockett was just obvious in the open on that one. that happened 9 years ago in college, i think he might have grown up a little since then. Dockett had a horrible upbringing as a kid and im actually surprised hes made it this far as a normal person without getting arrested a bunch. i dont recall any other obviously dirty suh-esque plays since then.

yeah he was fined for not listening to coaches and quitting. as a fine i support that fine all day long and twice on sundays. ask any of their fans, that organization sucks
