" the weapons of mass destruction of the time, canons and mortars, were deemed illegal to be in the possession of private citizens."

That's a good idea. We should follow their lead and make modern weapons of mass destruction illegal. No more nukes for you, Joe Plumber.

Illuminator is a good poster. He sticks to his guns and makes good points. Some don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t like that.

He probably was mentally ill, but you never know. The guy who came to my party this December that shot at us, injured a few and killed one. I'd known him since high school. No mental issues, but a bit of a temper.

" You still have failed to answer the question of if it would have been just as easy to blow up the movie theater, then why didn't he? You are tap dancing around this question because I'm sure you are aware that there is no answer that you can give that maintains the sanctity of your position."

So now the reasoning of a psychotic lunatic has to support my arguments or they're not valid? A refreshing change from your false dichotomy approach, but in no way an improvement.
Nice move, Mr. Bojangles. Of course, one couldn't hope to understand the reasoning of why a gun would be preferred to take out moviegoers, mall patrons, elementary school students and staff, etc. over a bomb, which by your suggestion, is just as easy to execute.

I couldn't be because it's easier to acquire legal firearms than it is to safely and discretely acquire and assemble all of the components of an explosive device capable of taking out a large number of people in one clip. It couldn't be because coordinating and executing an explosion requires far more planning and tactical aptitude than just waking up in the morning and grabbing a bunch of guns and walking into a public place and opening fire does.

Nah, couldn't be that. Total mystery, the mind of a lunatic, huh?

Your statement is not supported by any historical text or event, spartan. It is supported only by your personal ideology and insecurities. The 2nd amendment was not created to grant the ability to rebel. It was created as a plan for addressing national security. There is countless text and events that support this, and you and your crowd have continuously ignored them in order to cling to an unsubstantiated fantasy.

It is based on my opinion and the opinion of a few other notables like Jefferson, and oh, yea a few members the Supreme Court over the years.

Your argument is based on one principle and that is the 2nd was created for one reason and one reason only. Based on the fact the Bill of Rights was inspired by Thomas Jefferson and his views on the issue, I am thinking that is not the case. And, what's more, seeing as I know the difference between .22 and 12 gauge and you obviously do not, the ins and outs of lethality and effectiveness when it comes to firearms are probably on my side.

Also Luminous, you are once again tap dancing around the point. If the founders supported the right to rebel, why wouldn't they make readily available to the populace any and every tool that could aid in leading a successful rebellion? You don't think Washington used canons and mortars against the British?

Mental illness? Shhhh. You're not supposed to bring that subject up.

Any talk on the subject of causation is not allowed to be discussed.

Please keep all discussion focused on the inanimate object.

In fact even when discussing the inanimate object you must remain vague and non committal.

Actually, you should only speak of causation, and not practical solutions.

Please keep all discussions on abstract theories of why people kill people.

Please, for the love of God, don't look at the inanimate object used to kill people. Anything but that.

In fact, lets look at everything but that.

Lets occupy ourselves with the distraction of endless debates over causation without ever actually reaching any tangible solution.

Only one tool was necessary, and the founders took the appropriate steps to protect it.

You got to love the moral high ground of a guy that just voted to support a president that is killing innocents & children via unmanned drones at a historically all time high.

Dead children are a lot less important when their deaths don't support your political cause.

Wait...you wouldn't happen to be jumping all over the place, not making clear and concise arguments about the topic at hand, would you?
