Aside from the Pittsburgh game, what games has he played that could be reasonably be described as playing up to the competition? And even in that game, his completion percentage was under 50%.
Freeman's had plenty of fourth quarter comebacks. Saying he chokes most of the time is a gross exaggeration.
"Being a leader" and "energizing the offense and defense to play better" are meaningless fluff.
Absolutely none of this should be taken as being much of an endorsement of Freeman.
Tebow won that Pittsburgh game, who cares about his completion percentage, he caused a win.
Freeman has amazing comebacks like against the Max Hall led Cardinals and Curtis Painter led Colts - games that shouldn't have been that close in the first place. Has he ever had a comeback versus an actually good team? He choked against the Falcons in 2010 and in 2012 when we had our chances to be in prime playoff spots.
Being a leader and energizing the team is not meaningless fluff. Just last game you saw the shortcomings of Freeman. The defense played their hearts out for a few drives here and there, and Freeman just went 3 and out or threw interceptions, then he yelled at his receivers. It's not only that game, Tebow makes a gutsy play and he gains the respect of his teammates, they know that he is playing to win, they will go all out. Freeman just doesn't look like he wants to win.
