2013: Free Agent

Osi Umenyiora told reporters Monday that "it's a high probability" he won't be returning with the Giants.Umenyiora restructured his contract prior to the season with a voidable year in 2013, so that's been the expectation all along. He'll enter unrestricted free agency this offseason seeking one last mega-contract.

think its a real strong possibility, depends if CB or DE is addressed in free agency. if they sign osi it allows dom to focus on the secondary and maybe go DT early and DE later. i'd be all for it

Why are we adding more defensive ends? Bowers and Adrian healthy, Bennett back. Ugh.

The info above would make me pass.
Plus, the guy seems to disappear for periods of time.

Because you can never have enough D-Lineman. That is something that we have lacked for years, depth on the D-Line.

you're assuming bennett gets resigned, and quite frankly, clayborn, bennett and bowers isn't enough...even if you want to say a healthy clayborn is good for 6-8 sacks, that still puts the sack totals at 32-33. add another potential 10+ sacks and now maybe you're talking

One year deal on the cheap.

He's just finishing up one year @ 6M plus incentives.  No chance he comes to Tampa for a year on the cheap.

True.  it will probably be somewhere in between.  I'm hoping the team that overpays for him isn't the Bucs.

He is only 31, he has a few years left.   And if its one thing the Bucs DO HAVE....its cap room.   Especially if they don't extend Freeman after this season.  I thought they would early on, but not now after this nosedive in  play the last few games.  I think they take their chances on Freeman and see what happens after 2013.

A 31 year old pass rusher looking for one last big contract?

No thanks.

If the Bucs want more pass rush they should draft more DL, period. When you look around the league most of the sack leaders are young and upcoming guys with the team that drafted them. An old DE like Osi would be a big waste of cap space imo.

It could be good to have some our our young guys learn from a vet like Osi but it may come with to big a price tag on it. I say we just try and draft that Werner kid from FSU.

Trust me, Osi is not looking to sign with just anyone. He will sign with a team that is in the thick of it....dare I say Atlanta or similar team? He will not get a mega deal at his age but won't come "on the cheap" either...
