The Rays' DH options were reduced when Delmon Young agreed to a one-year deal with the Phillies for $750,000 with incentives that reportedly could push the total value to around $3.25 million.

Scott spent 2012 with the Rays, and both sides have continued to express mutual interest in a reunion. Other free-agent options include Travis Hafner, Aubrey Huff, Dan Johnson, Carlos Lee, Juan Rivera and Jim Thome. Trade options include Jason Kubel and Mike Carp.

Delmon Young got paid.... just not very much.

Would've really liked him at that price.

Yeah, that was a very good deal for Philly.  I'm interested to see what Charlie Manuel can do with his bat.

And I was afraid Friedman and Maddon wouldn't want him back, which is understandable.

And the Uptons are reunited:

The Atlanta Braves have acquired outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Randall Delgado, infielder Martin Prado and minor leaguers Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury and Zeke Spruill.

Good deal for ATL. Losing Prado is going to hurt them more than they think though IMO.

Also looks like Luke is back for another round. Hopefully a much more productive one.

3B - Evan Longoria
DH - Luke Scott
RF - Matt Joyce
1B - James Loney

That's a lot of Lefty's.

There will most likely be a platoon at DH and involving Joyce in RF.

" we have an exciting team"  ---- not really, not to the average fan

"Only 600,000 people live within a 30 minute drive of the Trop, lowest among all major league teams and lower than eight minor league teams."  --- about time we saw this fact in a story about attendance and how many of those are retirees on fixed incomes not to mention lower socioeconomic status .....

I know Roberts will get plenty of PT, and even Guyer will get a opportunity to show his skills - but I'm not sure how much they actually produce.

The team needs Myers to be good, and be good fast.

I'd be shocked if we saw Myers before July or August unless he signs a team friendly deal like Longoria did.   Just like Jennings sat in AAA even though we needed him badly.
