Looks like the umpires in midseason form with Rays getting screwed by a ridiculously bad call in the 9th

The first base ump was clueless and guessing.

And that really is the point.  There is no way for him to tell for sure with him running to get into position like that .  It even looked at one point like he leaned back towards to 1st to see if Longo passed Zobrist or not.   If he did pass him by a hair, then it had no bearing on the play.  Terrible call in that situation and killed a potential rally.

Damn, Moore and Cobb have been great.  Not sure why Moore didn't start vs. Baltimore.

Maybe they looked great because they were throwing against the Indians and not the O's.   Kidding.    Price was obvious opening day starter.  Helly seems to be that defacto #2 and Hernandez may be in that 3rd slot to split up Helly and Moore wh both tend to throw too many pitches and turn in starts of less than 6 innings.

Back to back shutouts, 19 consecutive shutout innings.

Side note, the gong is lame

Cleveland averaged 5 runs in their first series vs. the AL East favorite in Toronto.  To shut them out twice is impressive, and for it to the be the supposed 4 and 5 starters is even moreso.

Price can't be the guy to get shelled.  Gotta hold up, Big Fella.

I'm not overly impressed with **CENSORED**ey or Buerhle, but shutting out major league teams is nothing to sneeze at.   Moore and Cobb looked very good.  Looking forward to a sweep tomorrow

Looks like he can.

Makes what Moore and Cobb did look even better.  Cleveland's line-up is no slouch.

Hopefully just a rough start to the season for Price, nothing more. I'd hate to think he's feeling extra pressure because of Shields being gone.

This article cracked me up because Maddon routinely refers to "runs" as "points", which pisses me off.  He sounds like a damn woman when he does it.

Catching depth in the minors is looking good...

Pathetic.  The guy should be fined and/or suspended for a call like that.  2nd time already this season that a potential 9th inning rally is killed by a terrible call.

One of the top five worst calls I've ever witnessed.

Hundreds of games left to go. This umpires call isn't going to matter. They better start playing better or it will be a long season.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

In other not-so-surprising news, Niemann is done for the season:

In that vein, we better stop being screwed in games by terrible calls or it is going to be a long season.  Of course they need to play better, that is beside the point
