First off, apologies if this was already posted. I'm at the hospital on my iPad and it's difficult to search. On the way in, a caller said he had inside knowledge that Sheridan was done and that Rod Marinelli was returning as defensive line coach. He said that it was a done deal with Marinelli. He also said Lovie would be brought in as a DC and Assistant Head Coach if not hired as a HC elsewhere.

He went on to say that Schiano was opposed to Lovie, that Sheridan is Schiano's guy and he has no connection to Smith. The caller said there was a power struggle over getting Lovie in.

Lastly, the caller said the Bucs would heavily pursue Antonio Cromartie.

I can see Marinelli OR Lovie brought in as DC but I can't see both coming in so taking that rumor with a grain of salt.

Im calling BS. Why Lovie and Rod? Because they have Buc ties? To convenient.

It wouldn't shock me if Sheridan doesn't return but those two names, while the hold sentimental value, just don't add up. Besides, I think Lovie will be an HC somewhere else.

Mah sources!

Discussing Draft Needs (and Wants) before finding out how active the Bucs are in Free Agency is an Exercise in Futility. And I\'ve gotten one hell of a workout....

I def don't think hiring Lovie is a good idea.  Quite the opposite actually.  That hire would probably create a rift of players taking sides and splitting the team.  The ones that don't like Schiano's tough rules would migrate towards the cuddly and soft Lovie Smith.  Marinelli would be an awesome hire however!

How could Schiano be married to a guy that was his fourth choice(and had one of the worst defenses of all-time)?

I should clarify that Justin didn't seem to know the person or vouch for his credibility. Just a caller, but thought I'd pass it along.

I have a feeling that if a caller had inside sources, they wouldn't be publicizing those inside sources on The Fan.

The tone of it was more anti-Lovie than pro-Sheridan.

Bucs would be CRAZY not to hire a Lovie Smith to run this defense. He is a great defensive coach - and Marinelli is also a great D Line coach. Defenses love playing for those two guys. We would be LIGHT YEARS better.

It'd only be a one year fix, so I don't know if I'd want to do it.  On the bright side, though, maybe it would help land Melton as a free agent if he somehow isn't tagged by the Bears.

I can't wait till all of the Incarcerated Bob tweet threads again. If you throw enough sh!t against the wall some of it is bound to stick.
