Positive liberty is an individual's freedom to overcome structural inefficiencies.

Not a conservative.
Illuminator is a good poster. He sticks to his guns and makes good points. Some don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t like that.
If Libertarianism is not an American conservative ideology, then why is it that every self-identifying Libertarian serving in government is aligned with the Republican party?
An extreme liberal is an anarchist. An extreme conservative is a authoritarian, or totalitarian. Conservatism and Liberalism are philosophies, which followed through to absolution, either end with totalitarianism or anarchism. They are not "ideological stops along the way" you idiot. They are the way.

One puts the needs and welfare of the group above the needs of the individual, at the expense of the individual if necessary, whereas the other believes that if you protect the needs and welfare of the individual, the group will therefore benefit by mutual consent and desire.

Whereas negative liberty focuses on government authority as the only hindrance to liberty, positive liberty focuses on structure (social class, religion, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.) as possibles hindrances to liberty, and seeks to grant individuals with the power and resources to overcome such obstacles.

So, what do you call someone who is pro choice, pro gay marriage, finds the environment more important than the people living in it, is an unflinching advocate of the separation of church and state, and wants drugs decriminalised?
Now pretend you can't hear me, it's all you've got left.
This is his convoluted political philosophy....Control the guns that kill the kids, drop more bombs that kill the kids.Keep scrubbing that blood off your hands you war mongering socialist pig.

Not just some of them, but all of them. The policies advocated by self-proclaimed "free thinkers" like Luminous and Durango are the same ones advocated by Ron Paul, who, last I checked, was a Republican. Why is that? Why would people who promote an ideology that supposedly has completely differing views from conservatives all run on the conservative ticket in the American political process? All bluster and bravado aside, anyone of you "free thinkers" care to answer that?
