The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have two members of their team in the 2013 Pro Bowl as either RB Doug Martin or WR Vincent Jackson will be joining DT Gerald McCoy in Hawaii. Martin and Jackson are first alternates and a spot for a RB or a WR will open up after next Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

It should also be a possibility that Ronde makes it in if the 9ers win, since Whitner would then be unavailable.

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

Cringe when our players play in these exhibition games - thinking of Robert Edwards who injured himself at the Pro Bowl - not during the game but during a flag football game on the beach.

-----
Robert Edwards—By no means is Edwards in the “great” category, but he certainly suffered one of the most unfortunate injuries in NFL history. The former Georgia running back was a first-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 1998 and his rookie season was a success, with him rushing for 1,115 yards.

Then, during a rookie flag football game on a beach as part of the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, Edwards – who had a long history of injuries in college – blew out his knee. The injury was so bad, he nearly had to have his leg amputated. He was told he’d never play again.

He did, four years later for the Miami Dolphins – an inspiring, if short-lived comeback in which he touched the ball just 38 times in 12 games. He did play two all-star seasons in the Canadian Football League, though, each time rushing for more than 1,000 yards.

He was in his 30s then, his knee had been ravaged by injuries and time, and the competition wasn’t great. But it gave a glimpse at what maybe could’ve been had his NFL career not been over, for all intents in purposes, at age 24.

I think the guy in the 49ers hat and hoodie is Vincent Jackson.

Doug is the MAN!!

I love that he always has this sincere smile on his face.  I remember when he was being interviewed after the Vikings game, the reporter asked him how it felt to outshine Adrian Peterson in prime time.  Doug beamed ear-to-ear and didn't hide his genuine excitement.

His enthusiasm is awesome.  It's contagious.

They've got Martin playing special teams in the Pro Bowl. If he gets hurt, we're screwed.

ProBowl News:

The NFL has confirmed the information we reported earlier tonight:  Redskins tackle Trent Williams was the victim, not the aggressor, during a fight early Friday in Hawaii.

“Trent Williams was the victim of an assault at a night club in central Honolulu early this morning and another individual has been arrested,” an NFL spokesman said.  “Due to an injury sustained during the assault, he will not play in the Pro Bowl and has been replaced by Matt Kalil.  Trent is still a member of this year’s NFC All-Star team and will be on the sidelines this Sunday wearing his jersey.  He will be credited with a Pro Bowl appearance and receive a full player’s share.”

Meanwhile, the Honolulu Police Department has issued a statement regarding the incident.

“At 1:30 am this morning, Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a report of a large affray at a night club in central Honolulu,” the HPD said.  “Three males were injured during the affray.  Two were treated and released from the hospital, and the third male declined treatment.

“One male was arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree and additional arrests are likely.  The HPD has opened an Assault 2nd and four Assault 3rd investigations.  The investigation into these offenses continue.”

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Williams was struck with a champagne bottle and Tasered — not by the police but by the aggressor.

He should have stabbed the aggressor he plays in the NFL.  He'd have gotten away with it.
