PewterReport.com is reporting that Buccaneers have parted ways with defensive line coach Randy Melvin after one year. The Bucs had 27 sacks last year, which was tied for the third-fewest in the NFL and last in the NFC. The Bucs now have four vacancies to fill on the assistant coaching staff this offseason.

talk about a demotion to the 10th power - why would he want to, and besides, he'll likely be following Kiffin or Lovie Smith

Unfortunately...looks like he is staying in Chicago.

Not really that surprising. Coach had to fill his staff pretty late last year and had to somewhat take what was available. He's got a bit more selection now to choose from and I suspect replacements for the 4 open positions have already been in contact. I suspect we'll hear some news on some of the new coaches this week. in the next week.

Any idea if these coaches are bring fired or are they choosing to go? Just wondering if they find Schiano to be too much of a dictator or too much of a hardass?

My thoughts as well. Tampa may have a huge problem.

Is it simply a coincidence that the coaches that coached our weakest areas are elsewhere? Fleck got a HC gig. Can you blame him?

to think that is pretty dumb. Think about the two positions that left secondary and DL are two worst

Yes, some of them are understandable. This one is a bit different.  We can't ignore the fact that the Bucs had a great run D and were able to apply some pressure at times.  This guy had NFL experience and not the best hand to work with.  It is hard to say that he failed.  McCoy, Miller and Bennett had good seasons.  Miller was invisible for the most part but hard to argue he didn't plug the middle.  There are some major position coaches to fill.  Should be interesting.
