Given time to evaluate and a wider selection, I trust Schiano will upgrade the position.

Yes, some of them are understandable. This one is a bit different.  We can't ignore the fact that the Bucs had a great run D and were able to apply some pressure at times.  This guy had NFL experience and not the best hand to work with.  It is hard to say that he failed.  McCoy, Miller and Bennett had good seasons.  Miller was invisible for the most part but hard to argue he didn't plug the middle.  There are some major position coaches to fill.  Should be interesting.

talk about a demotion to the 10th power - why would he want to, and besides, he'll likely be following Kiffin or Lovie Smith

I read somewhere, Lovie will be sitting out a year.

Marenelli is not coming back to Chicago and although it would be great to see the Bucs make a big push to bring him back to coach the DL, Kiffin is making a run at him as well to join him in Dallas

It shouldn't surprise many that we're changing some positional coaches around. This staff got put together very late in the year and it would be conceivable to think that not every coach we hired was a top pick for us.

Hopefully Marinelli doesn't still have bad blood for us disallowing he and his son in law to interview all those years under Bruce.

PewterReport.com is reporting that Buccaneers have parted ways with defensive line coach Randy Melvin after one year. The Bucs had 27 sacks last year, which was tied for the third-fewest in the NFL and last in the NFC. The Bucs now have four vacancies to fill on the assistant coaching staff this offseason.

Is Melvin still with the team or not?
