Olson Hired as Raiders OC

Greg Olson is the new offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders.
 
Olson, who spent last season as quarterbacks coach of the Jaguars, was hired by the Raiders late on Friday, according to multiple reports.
 
The Raiders fired Greg Knapp as their offensive coordinator at the end of the season, and they generally kept things under wraps about who their candidates to replace Knapp were — other than a surprising report that Mike Martz was under consideration. There were no reports that Olson had interviewed the job before Olson got the job.
 
Before taking the Jaguars job a year ago, Olson was offensive coordinator of the Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011. He has also been an offensive coordinator in Detroit and St. Louis.

Wow. Dude was horrible as an OC here, then sucked last year as the Jags QB coach.... So the Raiders make him their OC. Makes sense. SMH.

    Olson has no success on his NFL resume as an OC, but not much left to pick from with NFL experience. He's a decent QB coach though. He must have one heck of an agent to get him an OC gig, although we are talkin' about the Raiders here...

I don't think Olson is good and also don't think he's as bad as people on here think, but this is an odd fit in that he's been associated with man blocking teams for a long time and the Raiders have been ZBS for a long time.

Olson getting  an OC job in the NFL is denying a QUALIFIED OC of a job.
What a dirt rotten shame. He is a worthless OC, every where he has been he has been putrid.

They basically made a lateral move after firing Knapp. Raider fans don't seem too happy either

Well, at least we can all predict the Raider's offense.  Runinto the back of the line of scrimmage two times, then throw a pass short of the fist down that is caught and injurers player. Player out.  Punt and repeat./  Exception:  one yerd goal line stand, run three times into the back of the pack, scramble and get tackled 5-10 yards behind LOS then kick field goal.   Repeat.

The Raiders were using man blocking for a long time (so DMC had success) and then last season they switched to ZBS, so DMC was terrible.

Good move switching back to man blocking IMO.
