If the Patriots don't franchise Welker (which appears unlikely), it looks like he will test the waters to see if he can command $11mm/year (heard on ESPN radio this morning).

If he hits the open market, would you be for or against this signing.

I would be ALL IN on it.

Our offense would be complete, if we round it out with a TE in the draft.

Freeman would flourish.

#Playoffs.

Absolutely not.

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

11 mill a year for a slot WR?!? NO thanks. I'm not sure he is anywhere close to himself without Brady.

Nope, not a chance. He just didn't look at quick as he usually does, period.

I agree we need a legit slot receiver, Wes Welker is not it unless he takes a large paycut.

No thanks.  11mil per year can get 2 decent CB's which we need a lot more than a 32 yr old slot guy.

Can he play QB?

Freeman makes 8mio next year, i would hope we sign Freeman for less than 11 per year.

Maybe for 7 mil per, but don't think Welker is going to go for that.
I agree with most others on this one, not as clutch as he used to be, and think he had something special with Brady that will be tough to replicate with a more pedestrian QB.

Maybe Suggs was right after all....

Welker is exactly what we need and I'd gladly pay $10 - $11 million a year for 2 years with what would basically be club option years after that.

It does not matter what he wants. The market will dictate what he gets. And he can either accept it or retire.

If we cut Eric Wright, yeah, a 2-year deal would be fine with me.

I'm of the opinion that we don't have a QB that's capable of best utilizing Welker's skillset

Here's to hoping he becomes a charger!
