I agree if we cut Eric Wright that saves us over 7m if we could sign him to a 9-10 mil a year contract for 5 years and make the last 2 or 3 years voidable.  Still leaves us enough room to re-sign our own as well as adding a few more pieces to the puzzle via FA.

If the ball hits your hands...you should catch it.

No way to Welker. $5mil would be too much.

Hell, brees might not be as accurate as manziel.

Welker would improve the Bucs, but does he improve it enough to warrant $11 million, pretty much the same salary that Vincent Jackson received? I don't think so. Do we, with all our needs, particularly in the secondary, want to spend that kind of money on an aging slot receiver? I don't think so.

Quite frankly, Welker's worth is probably the greatest to the Patriots--if they don't want to give him that kind of money, why would the Bucs?

last I checked it was our defense that was atrocious. We need to spend the FA money on that side of the ball. Only so many balls to go around on offense, Welker would be extremely under-utilized here IMO. We need to improve the #3 receiver, but not this way.

IF we were to give Welker that kind of money, what would be left for Mike Will at the WR position?

This would be a poor use of our money, and I don't see Dom making this move, as he would rather overpay his own guys.

Freeman would play much better with a guy like welker around.

Welker will play any part of the field, so if Tampa signed him, TE wouldn't be such a need and it could potentially reduce the numbers of low/close passes to martin.

He's not as good as he was, and the new deal should only be set for two years, but he would certainly round out this passing core. At least until we find out if freeman is the QB going forward.

However, if signing welker were to hinder us from signing corners, no way. That needs to be #1 priority.

This..

No way in hell I would give that guy 11 mil a year. I would throw that check at Mike Wallace way before that. He fits our QBs skill set just fine.

Fits it in that way that it's much harder to overthrow him? lol

Lol Exactly... Mike Wallace would be an all pro catching passes from Lob City.
