The unit as a whole is one of the best in the league when healthy

lolz

I can assure you we aren't drafting a lineman in the 1st round however.

Great.  I remember your "garantee" that Kirk Cousin will be traded in the offseason, so I don't take your assurances very seriously.

,,,and I can garantee you if  Penn blows his knee out in a pick-up basketball game this offseason , I will change my mind again.

I don't think he will be there at 13, but if he is I'd be fine with it.  He's been dominant this week against better competition, which really was the only question mark people had about him.

I would not be upset if they pulled the trigger on him.

Lol at anyone saying we have one of the best lines, when healthy. How many games were they healthy last year? And what was our record in said games?

Carlos Dunlap instead of Brian Price in 2010 Trade up for Aldon Smith instead of Adrian Clayborn in 2011 Vontaze Burfict in 2012

The only way we don't go CB in first is if we pick up a starting corner through trade or draft.  IMO

We dont have a starting caliber RT....so i'd say it is just as much a need as CB or DT.

After the combine, Kiper has Fisher as his #1 OT.  Doesn't look like he'll be available at Tampa's selection.

I see a OT in the first.  CB in the second or FS.

I wouldn't be surprised if all three of the top OT(Fisher, Joeckel, Johnson) went in the top 10 selections.

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

It's been a while since we have used a premium pick on a offensive linemen. Right now besides Nicks our line is nothing but patchwork plugging in undrafted guys

Lane Johnson would make me very happy.

Acclimate at ROT and move to LOT in a couple years when Penn is all worn out.

I'd only be on board with Lane if we signed 2 solid starting corners in FA.  Otherwise the pick needs to be Trufant or Rhodes.  Period.

If we don't sign two FA cornerbacks, I see the offseason as a failure.

We need one to replace last year's failed attempt (Wright) and we need a second one to replace Talib. We can draft one or even a few, but those are rookies. We need two veteran starters at CB. If a rookie can beat out a vet and earn the start, that is great...but starting a rookie CB from this draft should not be plan A.

If we want any of the top 3 OT, then we will likely be moving up.  Johnson could very well go in the top 12, too.

I wouldn't consider the offseason a complete failure if we got 1 of the very best FA corners available and pair that with a 1st round corner. Good corners are expensive and in high demand so don't be surprised if we only land one. Worst comes to worse you could always bring Wright back and pair him with the other vet corner as insurance against your rookie struggling.
