I question any report like this that doesnt have energy/gas at the top of all concerns. It's an expense that businesses incure from contractors and customers, not to mention your own over head cost. But hey, it cost money to make money so...

Let me explain

Ma & Pa own a restaurant with 55 full-time employees. Their monthly income statement looks like this:

Revs:           $330,000

Cost of goods sold             $100,000
Labor                                $120,000
Rent                                 $40,000
Electric and Gas               $10,000
all other                            $45,000

EBIT            $15,000

Taxes                               $5,700

Net Income   $9,300

Now if energy cost rise 25% that is a $2,500 increase in cost. Bearable but not great.

But with Obama care Labor costs will increase $22,000 (~$400 * 55 employees) so either FIRE 6 people or lose $7,000/mo.

I guess the good news for them is they won't have to pay that $5,700 in income taxes anymore. Where the Gov. will make up that lost revenue? No problem just borrow it!!!

JG, you wonder who in our government does the financial ẃhat if' modeling. Your horseback math example is pretty straight forward and doesn´t require a PHD from Wharton to understand. Ḷotś of us are in business and do what JG did all the time, hell sometimes on napkins. it just shows to go you that we need to put more business types managing our nations finances in place rather than professional politicians who are trained  ex lawyers whose main skill is to argue and constipate a process with no resolution. No lawyer hate here on my side, I work with them all the time, that said, MOST of our politicians do NOT come from entreprenurial backgrounds and simply stated they rely on what they know and do well ,,,,,,,argue a point to death.

and then there will be less for available to pay taxes so money can be redistributed - noticed a portion of SS program is now predicted to run short in 2016.  Seems taking a break from those taxes to get elected might backfire - assuming folks can figure it out... not referencing you, other folks.

You're working on the assumption that Obama gives a crap about th economy. He doesn't. His primary focus is social issues. He will pay just enough attention to the economy so it doesn't prevent him from doing what he wants to. No more, no less. He does not care how much debt he accrues, that will be up to someone else to sort out after he has implemented his social programs which will be nigh on impossible to repeal once he has them in place.

I think all anyone in Washington is worried about is getting reelected and kicking the can down the road. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Tea Party, etc. They all have their INDIVIDUAL agendas at the expense of taxpayers.

Putting the merits of the various social and entitlement programs aside, if you run out of funding, the program will die and nobody will get anything.

Obama is implementing policy without much real thought of how it will be paid for. He is leaving that for someone else to figure out down the road.

don't usually post many conspiracy vids(OneTruth....), but this is filled with tons of great factual information aside from any suggestion of a conspiracy.

2 hours long may blow a lot of peoples mind at how the financial system of this country actually works. Hearing all the fancy terms and concepts of TV and in the news can be difficult to understand sometimes, but they break it down to the point a child can understand the insanity that our financial system operates on. definitely worth the time to watch IMO.

Without watching it I can see just from the word Zeitgeist in the title that that video will be fully of inaccuracies and and outright falsehoods.
