Interestingly enough, the Bucs could have taken RB Jamaal Charles in the 2nd round in 2008 rather than picking WR Dexter Jackson.

I have no doubt that the 2012 Bucs would have been a better team with Steve Young, Steve Deberg, Doug Williams, Jeff Garcia, Brad Johnson, Brian Griese, Trent Dilfer, Chris Chandler, Craig Erickson or Vinny Testaverde at their skill level in their 4th NFL season rather than Freeman in his 4th.

Not with the Young, Deberg, Williams, Griese, Dilfer, Erickson or Testaverde that played in Tampa - I just flat disagree.  Everyone one of them played better at other times in their careers - while here to say they were better is simply an overstatement imvho.

Young and Testeverde maybe, they played on pretty bad teams here.   Williams .....   I don't know.   That being said our pass defense was pretty damn awful last year so tough to say if W/L's would be much different.

They had the opportunity to take Adrian Peterson in 2007 before instead of Gaines Adams,

They had the opportunity to take Jamaal Charles or Ray Rice in 2008 instead of Dexter Jackson.

Nobody ever said the Bucs were good at drafting.    That's why they need a head coach like Gruden who can win games with bad players.

Hillis was a 7th round pick.    About 10% of those aren't out of the league in a few years.

So you do not expect the HC to be able to identify and draft good talent? Another thing that you constantly forget is that Gruden's personality had worn on the team and quite frankly the whole team had tuned him out by the time he was fired. IMO if Gruden were a better talent evaluator he would still be a coach.
