Mauti looks like the typical schiano player. I wouldn't mind using a fifth or sixth on him at all.

Gotta cut a few names to get down to 50 before the draft. Having a hard time this year because while there are no top flight prospects at the top of the draft that I'm just crazy about, there are a lot of solid prospects in the middle rounds. I think the DB, RB, and TE positions are especially deep this year. I have no running backs in the first two rounds, but six after that, and there are probably 5 more that I like. We might not get three instant starters like last year, but I think this is a great draft for us to add solid depth to our roster. We've lacked good depth for a long time.

1st Round

1. OT Eric Fisher
2a. CB DeMarcus Milliner
2b. CB Xavier Rhodes
4. DE Bjoern Werner
5. OT Lane Johnson
6. DE/LB Dion Jordan
7. DE Ezekiel Ansah
8. TE Tyler Eifert

2nd Round

9.  DE Cornellius Carradine
10. TE Gavin Escobar
11. DE Margus Hunt
12. DT Jesse Williams
13. WR DeAndre Hopkins
14. TE Vance McDonald
15. OT Menelik Watson
16. DE Datone Jones
17. OT Kyle Long
18. WR Robert Woods

3rd Round

19. RB Monte Ball
20. WR Stedman Bailey
21. CB/KR Robert Alford
22. CB Leon McFadden
23.  QB EJ Manuel
24. OLB Corey Lemonier
25. DT Brandon Williams
26. LB Khaseem Greene
27. QB Tyler Wilson

4th Round

28. DE Mike Catapano
29.  C Brian Schwenke
30. RB/KR Dennis Johnson
31. RB Zac Stacy
32. CB Jordan Poyer
33. LB Chase Thomas
34. RB Kniles Davis

36. WR Mark Harrison
37. DE Armonty Bryant
38.  WR Conner Vernon
39. FS Bacarri Rambo

Jordan Poyer in the 4th? I doubt he even lasts to the third.

Maybe, I'm just saying I think he's a late 3rd or 4th round prospect. I like him, but personally wouldn't take him before then.

This is what I want to know ....craziness.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

Man I want to like him. Him and Logan Ryan. I want to be excited about them and feel like they are the answer....but I've watched a lot of games for both guys and I just don't see it. I just don't see anything special there. If we do end up drafting Trufant, I hope we also sign his brother Marcus. Desmond obviosly has potential and great physical abilities. Maybe a year or two with his veteran brother would help him grow into a great CB. I just don't see it when I watch him in college.

Alright, that's fair. At least you have original opinions on guys instead of just listening to the "analysts". When I watch him, I see a guy who has one of the most important tools for a corner, and that is confidence/swagger. He wants to be on the #1 guy when it's 3rd and 5 and the defense needs a stop right now. Of course, confidence means nothing if you have no physical ability, but I think he does and he certainly has good size. Now, would he be able to step in right away and be a good starter? Not likely. There are very few young corners who can ball straight away, especially with all the work professional receivers put into honing their craft.

I do think he could develop into something special though, but if the Bucs having a starting corner this year, who's a rookie, and is not named Millner, they didn't do enough in FA.

I kinda agree there. Unless our rookie CB, whoever it ends up being, just balls out in camp and really earns it....I think there are too many good veterans available in FA to not sign two. A rookie CB taken outside the first round should be able to work his way in slowly rather than thrown into the fire from day one.

I figure we need at the very least 3, but preferably 4 new CB's on the roster.  Sign Smith or Cox to be our #1 (at least for now).  Sign Toler or McKelvin to be our #3.  Draft Rhodes of Trufant early to be our #2, and draft Blidi, Ryan, or McFadden in the 3-4 round range to be our #4.  We'd be set for a while as the rookies could ease into it, and we'd have depth to protect from injuries or adderall.

It was great last year

I'm always down for chatting about the Bucs. Let me know if you set up a chat room.
