Justin Jones? Don't know much. Just that he isn't in this draft. He's in next year's draft.

 What do you think will happen if a couple days after FA hits and no CB is signed? Will they double up in draft, go after grimes by his lonesome, or trade for revis (or possibly a combo of either)?

Who knows man. Every FA period is a completely different beast. I have a feeling that with so many CBs and DTs available, those two positions probably won't be flying off the market at midnight. It seems like a buyers market, so signings might trickle in over the first week rather than a landslide on day one....but who knows really?

Hopefully nobody makes a stupid Eric Wright type signing right away. If some team was to say, give Sean Smith a $12M/year deal right off the bat.....then it screws every team by raising all CBs prices.

Apparently smith has already been chosen, and I imagine what we're not hearing about is going on right now with the rest of them.

Free Agency

Start off by releasing Eric Wright and doing an injury settlement with Quincy Black. This should give us roughly $44M in cap space.

Trade for Revis. This may surprise people since I haven't been for Revis, but I think since he has been shopped for so long with no activity, his price has dropped to a reasonable value. I suggest we swap our 1st round pick for the Jets 2nd round pick. They'd move up from 41 to 13, which equals out point wise to the same value as the 28th pick in the draft. They get two top 15 players and clear cap space, we still have two picks in the top 50, just done in the first. And we have Revis. We'd also need to include a future pick that changes depending on how Revis plays...but that doesn't effect this offseason. Revis has to agree to a long term $13M/year, not a penny more or the deals off.

Resign Mike Williams.

Sign Dashon Goldson.

Sign one of the older veteran CBs. I like Marcus Trufant, but there are several old proven vets out there.

Sign RT Eric Winston.

Sign DT Terrence Knighton.

Sign QB David Garrard. He is healthy now and looking for work. Best back up on the market.





DRAFT

2nd Round - DE Tank Carridine - As much as I hate the idea of drafting another defensive lineman with injury issues, I think Tank is worth it. Personally I believe he is the best 4-3 DE in this draft and it's a great pick in the 2nd round. With Bennett leaving, we need another DE.

2nd Round - TE Gavin Escobar - Tight End is a need and Escobar fits that need as well as BPA at this pick. He is not the greatest blocker, but he isn't horrible at it and had gone on record saying that he is willing and able, just needs more coaching and practice. As a receiver, he rivals Eifert as the best in this class. He's 6'6" with long arms and big hands.

3rd Round - WR Stedman Bailey - Bailey is the ideal slot receiver for us. He is a bit undersized, but he runs crisp routes and has the most natural hands of anyone in this draft. He may only be 5'10" but his hands and arms measured in as some of the largest of all WRs in the draft. His body control is elite. He gets open and doesn't drop balls. Exactly what you need on 3rd and 5 to keep the drive going.

3rd Round - CB Robert Alford or CB Leon McFadden - I really like both of these guys and think they are underrated. I personally think they are better than many guys I see ranked above them and I would be ecstatic to get either one in the 3rd round. I propose we trade our two 4th round picks here to move back up into the 3rd and get one of these fellows. Even though I think we get two CBs in free agency, we can use another. Alford gets a slight edge because he is a good kick returner as well.

5th Round - RB Dennis Johnson or RB Zac Stacey - These two guys are almost identical to me and probably my two favorite RB prospects in the draft. Last year Doug Martin was listed as a 4th round pick until Febuary, then he climbed the boards and the rest is history. I hope at least one of these two guys stays put and is available this late. Both guys are in the mold of Martin. Short, compact, great balance and quickness. Plus they are both all around backs like Martin. Both are proven in pass protection and as receivers. Johnson gets the edge because he is also an outstanding kick returner.

6th Round - SS Shamarko Thomas - Some sites have this guy as a 3rd round pick, while others have him as a 7th round or undrafted. I love him as a late round prospect. He played FS in college, might have to be a SS in NFL. Either way he would be a great addition to depth and special teams. Definitely has the potential to be a starter some day.

7th Round - DE Mike Catapano - Princeton?! Really?! I know....but this guy can play. I think he is at least as good as Teo' Neisam and maybe better. I don't think starter, but very good depth. The guy is strong like bull, plays nasty and is very smart.

I would take that original draft in a heartbeat, literally a heartbeat. Stedman Bailey is growing on me very quickly. His 40 time, while has nothing to do with his game, is slow and will drop him down the boards a bit so we might be able to grab him in the 2nd.

I do believe the hype on the #Bucs signing an elite corner however. That's obviously not far-fetched at all.




Smith and all the other available CB's are no where close to "elite" status. So one can only assume he is referring to DR24.

Jd knows talent pretty good, and he knows revis is worth a lot (even w/injury).

The thing that bothers him, as well as most of us fans, is the picks being thrown at him and his overall contract.

Me personally, I would use #13 in a heartbeat (because otherwise it's Rhodes, and he isn't better). Now jd on the otherhand, he might not like that risk of losing out on the first with a guy, that possibly, can't play like he used to. Me? Well, I like to gamble.
