He is signed through 2013, and you can't re-do a rookie contract.  That came up recently with Russell Wilson.

They could extend him beyond 2013, sometime during the 2013 season.

wasnt russel wilson's issue part of the new CBA?  i gotta think they could do an extension now if they wanted, but thats just assuming.

Mike Williams absolutely deserves a big payday and we have to give him his money.....I just worry how he'll handle all that money. I pray his Mama can keep him grounded, because as great of a player as he is, he is still a bit of a knuckle head off the field. I can't help but worry his production will drop and his suspensions will rise after he gets paid. I really really hope that isn't the case.

He needs to get paid as an elite #2 WR, not as a # 1.

I don't think anyone, including Mike, expects him to get #1 money. The top 10 average for WRs last year, including bonuses and everything...was $12M. Mike will probably be in the area of  $6M.

193 receptions for 2731 yards and 23 TDs in his first three years is pretty damn good though. Not many #2s can boast that kind of production.

Sydney rise got an $8M/year deal in free agency.

Anquan Boldin got $7M/year.

Santanio Holmes got $9M/year.

Roddy White got resigned for $8M/year.

You could argue that these guys are all #1s, but Mike's stats are as good or better than all of these guys.....so he has a valid argument to get a minimum of $6M/year. Otherwise, he'll test FA and get at least that from another team. He's 25 years old and his stats challenge most #1 receivers in the league. Someone will pay him if we don't.

Yeah Robinson's deal averages $6.5M a year, and Mike is clearly better than that nub....so it's hard to imagine Mike and his Agent taking any less.

Hopefully MikeWill gives a hometown discount. He had a very good year as a #2 opposite VJax. He had a down year as the #1 the prior year. It's probably in everyone's best interest that he stays opposite of VJax here. Hopefully it's at a good price. If not, still resign him.
