I still contend that when you have no players to sign to 2nd contracts, your spending will be minimal. Dan Snyder has shown all of us that trying to buy a playoff team doesn't work.

A valid point that goes in one ear an out the other...

Actually the problem isnt that Freeman stinks. He is average. He puts up good numbers just often enough to make you think he is better than he is. Bad and great are convincing. But mediocre makes you live with the delusion for too many years. He is just good enough to waste our time and not good enough to get us where we want to go.

LOL - wasn't there free agency during the time of Gruden/Allen and Morris/Dominick - I forget.... And Dan Snyder has shown immediate results when your team starts at suck is damned hard to find.  Belichick has shown use of picks to trade for pros, and FA are very useful tools in filling a roster.  New Orleans has shown that FA for QB is possible.  Arizona has shown that hoping a guy steps up wastes a year.  What else can we contend...

FAs were acquired to supplement the core.... not create one.

Lets just say it'd be impossible to win the division with a 9-7 record these days.

Ummm -not the offense.  D was mostly home grown, O was mostly FAs.  And it was the offense that was missing as you know.  And it was the defense where almost 2/3s of the money was committed iirc.

Hasn't been possible to win the south with 9-7, that number gets you a wild card chance... not assured.

This and most logical fans haven't ask to buy a core .... that's just a convenient reply to the fact that the Glazers/Bucs neglected to try and field the best team possible for a few years ... quite a few

In 07, we won the division with a 9-7 record.
