I've heard it is total garbage...like worse than Vista garbage.

I have it. I don't like it at all, I don't like not have my start menu. Its a real pain to find some things and you gotta go thru numerous menus just to search for them.

It's garbage designed for computer illiterates to help facilitate things for them but it takes away functionality from users who know what they are doing.

It was ok at first...but every since upgrading from 7 to 8 I have experienced numerous software problems that didn't transfer seamlessly.

I would highly recommend that one avoid W8.
