He seems like a man who demands attention, if not respect. Just bitter.

doug williams is massively underappreciated by the fanbase. the guy was a good player thrust into a terrible position. the racism he faced was really bad. i didnt know much til i read the book Mckays Men. detailed the history of the bucs and the 1979 season. really lets you see how the early years of the franchise went down. i dont blame williams for being bitter toward the fanbase and team

Doug Williams couldn't score a single TD against the Rams in the NFCC game. He still has the worst completion percentage of any QB in Buccaneer history. The defense and Ricky Bell carried him. He stunk on ice. On the way out the door he stated he hoped the Bucs never won another game. I watched him throw a ball out of bounds on 4th down to stop the clock. No touch, little accuracy, just velocity. And people complain about Freeman.

On a positive note, he refused to accept payment on a guaranteed contract when the USFL folded.

He was no genius.   But he was a leader and the Bucs obviously respected him at the time.   He was literally the heart and soul of the Bucs back then - and he was a winner.    If Josh Freeman had the heart Doug Williams had on the field, he'd be the best QB of all time.   Instead Freeman is a human jellyfish with no guts.

That was 30 years ago. If someone has an ego that big, that will let them hold a grudge for that long, against people that don't deserve it...they have psychological problems and should see a specialist.

You really have a thing for QBs who can't complete half their passes. Freeman's worst year (rookie) was ten percentage points superior to Doug"s. In fact it's equal to Doug's career average with the Bucs. If Freeman had the Defense Doug had. The Bucs would be playing this Sunday in the SB. If the 2012 Bucs had Doug Williams at QB, we'd be alternating picks with KC. The heart and soul of the Bucs back then was LeeRoy. Doug Williams was the clown prince.

Total and complete BS. He couldn't get it done with the 1979 Defense. No way could he win with the 2012 defense. Williams and Tebow rank #1 and #2 for the worst completion percentage in a single season for a starting QB, and that's in league history, not just the Bucs. You dare to compare Tebow to Steve Young, when he's more like a male cheerleader who put on the wrong uniform. Defenses carried Williams. A defense carried Tebow in Denver. Freeman didn't need the defense to be that great, just not last in the league in pass defense.
