If he could patent it, he could sue anyone else who used the name, like on T-shirts and such. That would at least stop the commercialization of the name...

Trademark.

And if you go through the 30 day process,  and get the trademark,  you have to show you are using it for business purposes or you can lose the rights.  So if Dougie hates the nic as much as he says, I doubt he makes the effort.

As others have mentioned, he would probably be best served to not say anything about it at all.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

I'm thinking the Patriots wish they could redo that trade.

??

Rather than trading that pick to the Bucs, I'm sure they would have drafted Doug for themselves.

Agree, that running back they picked was no great shakes, his name escapes me at the moment.

Meh, Ridley had 1250+ yards rushing and they still had Vereen and Woodhead. Even if the Pats didn't trade out, I doubt they were taking a RB.

There\'s a very real chance the Bucs waive [Revis] before next season. At the very least, it will be a discussion worth having.

1926 yards of all purpose production would make them at least consider it.

Yeah, I mean in hindsight, everything gets easier. :)

I'm just saying if they stayed at that spot, it's highly unlikely they take a RB.

I call him Doug Martin. This obsession with giving people a nickname is so lame. Nicknames are organic, they come naturally. When you are on a quest to give someone one, it will always fail. Just let it be.
