Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal. How does something like that happen on a hit? (short of having your spine crushed) Doesn't make sense.
It can be brought on by such a thing.
Slipped disks, arthritis, pressure on the nerve roots or spinal cord, to even tumors on/in the spine can all cause it. It can even be latent and genetic. Bones will actually become larger as time moves on.
Working with beef and dairy cattle myself, we actually look out for it. They can get it as well, even if it's rare. Looks awful in the late stages, at least with cattle.
