And after looking at Jones, I would say that he's probably also be an upgrade over Miller.

might depend on what you are asking him to do?  can jones at 275 do what miller does at 315?

i think ellis will be too expensive but is he a guy that can play both UT and NT?  get that, re-sign miller, and take a look at that brandon williams guy later in the draft?

Glenn Dorsey and Jason Jones. Dorsey was being misused in the 3-4 in KC and Jones is one of the most underrated DT's in the game.

Doesn't Melton play the same exact position as McCoy? He's clearly the best DT on this list, but he would cost a loooooooot.

He's a restricted FA and will almost certainly never see FA this offseason, and yes he is a 3 technique under tackle. I guess people just assume he can play both.....I think he and McCoy could both probably play UT or NT. Both guys have pass rush, but they have both shown the ability to eat blocks and stop the run too.


edit* - was just reading that Melton is an UNRESTRICTED free agent. Not sure how that is when he has only played for 3 years. Anybody know the truth?

He's an UNrestricted free agent. I doubt we'd tie up that much money at just the DTackle position tho. What do u think of Corey Williams? He's a UFA, and granted he's 32, but he's played really well for the Lions.
