SMH... There's nothing allowed in a carryon except a rifle scope and this fool has a clip and .40cal just chilling together like he didn't see Plax go to jail... *deep exhale* Just throw them both in a case and check it, & you're fine... So stupid.

Stephen Holder ‏@HolderStephen

Also, I'm told Bowers' gun is registered to him, though not clear in what state. I am assumed as much, but just sayin.

I have no doubt the gun was issued to DQB, but the state is a big point of contention. Have said as much almost from jump. I have a bad feeling about this...

It doesn't matter if he told the airline about the gun. There is no reason to be carrying a loaded gun around and I'm assuming he doesn't have a license to carry. Therefore he deserves to be held accountable, sadly.

He is licensed and the gun wasn't loaded in any sense you and I would recognize as loaded.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

It's a shame there's no common sense in law enforcement.

LEO is supposed to have "common sense" but not Bowers?

Someone should not lose their freedom for being dumb. There should be malicious intent before jail time is even a consideration in something like this.

And yes, the law needs to be held to a higher standard than citizens.

The NY law in this case is dumb. What was he supposed to do, sneak the gun on the plane??

The report I read said "loaded".

Loaded according to NY state law which means the bullets were in the same carry-on bag, not in the gun itself.

Not necessarily stupid. It's possible he fully intended to put it in checked luggage. Perhaps after putting his bags on the belt and starting to walk off he thought "shoot... I forgot to repack my luggage after coming from the range or gun shop!" At which point his bags were already gone so he asked the counter what he can do

This would never have happened if he'd taken his Adderall that day....he simply wasn't able to focus.
