Being realistic I see Freeman having a better year in year 2 of the Sullivan offense. Lets say we go 11-5, make playoffs, maybe even win a game once we get there. Freeman has best year yet, similar to 2010, gets a probowl alternate slot. SO how much are we gonna have to pay him? He won't get Flacco money clearly but every time someone gets paid it does raise the bar for everyone else. Before Freeman had his slump this past season I figured we were gonna give him something like 10 years 100 million. Think he gets closer to 15 mil per year now?
It means that instead of being worth $4million a year he's now worth maybe $4.5million.On one hand you have a QB with the most wins of any QB in their first 80 games, has made the playoffs every season, has won the most road playoff games EVER, made 2 championship games, had a playoff run for the ages and won a Super Bowl (while being the games MVP)On the other hand there is Josh who has never even made the playoffs, had just one winning season and actually has fans talking about bringing in guys like Brady Quinn & Matt Cassell to challenge/push him, the guy is nearer to being Blaine Gabbert than he is Joe Flacco.
If Freeman gets his completion percentage back up to 60%, he's going to get a ton of money from someone.

They weren't confident enough to go ahead and give him an extension. He also has been inconsistent and erratic. IMO he has earned his money the last two years, but prior to that the defense carried that team and he was just along for the ride. Freeman has not had the benefit of the same system, the same HC, and a decent defense. Flacco has now been overpaid. Freeman won't be, at least not like that. I am confident he will earn much more next year than he would have asked for this year. The team and the coaching staff will do well together.
