@caplannfl
The #Falcons are going to release starting RT Tyson Clabo, according to his agent, Chad Speck.

What would they be clearing cap space for?
Matt Ryan maybe?
Not maybe, they are.  The Falcons currently have 2.5M in cap and the release of Clabo frees up another 4.5M, bringing their total cap up to 7M.

What is Ryan's cap hit for 2013?
12M and a UFA in '14

@caplannfl
Falcons only have just over $2.4 M in cap space and are looking to extend Matt Ryan's contract.

@caplannfl
Clabo was signed through 2015. Carried a base salary of $4.5 M for this season.

@NFL_ATL
Falcons GM Dimitroff tells @NFL_AM he hopes to have a new contract for Matt Ryan before the start of the season

This isn't a move to free up space for Revis.  This is a move to free up space for Matt Ryan.

That's what they want you to think... doesn't seem like enough, tho'...

Ryan is a UFA in '14. I'm positive the Falcons aren't trying to free up room for Revis.

Still, with so much invested in those WRs, they don't want to see Revis come to a team that beat them once... and just a missed FG from twice.

CalicoJack, keep in mind the Falcons also need $$$ to sign their rooks.  So lets pretend they have 5M - 6M stashed for rooks, that puts them back to 1.5M - 2.5M in available cap.  That's not enough to land Revis.

Thanks for the link. Never knew where to look for info. Falcons can always use the Franchise tag on him if they Opt not to sign him this year. Similar to what the Saints did with Brees.

@ProFootballTalk
Thomas Dimitroff: Something's "around the corner" with Matt Ryan's contract.

Maybe he's hinting that Revis will be a Falcon... LoL, nah... ;)

Chad Speck Chad Speck ‏@a3Chad

In 2012 Clabo was tied amongst starters as the 2nd least penalized RT in the NFL

There are rumors of a done deal between the Bucs and Jets. Both teams are waiting to announce it closer to the draft or possibly even draft day.  When you see the Jets have traded up for a certain player (my guess, Geno Smith) don't be surprised.

Depends on how many of those picks get traded...

@NFL_RealUpdates
#Giants offered WR Victor Cruz a deal worth $7M a year with more than $20M in guarantees, But Cruz is seeking $10-$11 million per year.

@NFL_ATL
Jay-Z has his work cut out for him. Victor Cruz is reportedly seeking $10-$11 million annually

LMFAO! I still can't believe Jay-Z has a damn agency.

The Atlanta Falcons were listed at $2.4 million under the cap. That was before news broke Thursday morning that the team is releasing right tackle Tyson Clabo. The move will free up $900,000 in the short term. But Clabo will be designated as a June 1 release. After June 1, the cap savings will be about $4.5 million. The Falcons also hope to work a long-term extension with quarterback Matt Ryan sometime this offseason. Depending on the structure of the deal, an extension could create some cap room for the Falcons this year.
