Harvin is a guy who has seen his ypc drop every year he's been in the league. His catch totals have increased as his ypc have dropped into Ike Hilliard range - translation he's catching a lot of trash. He's a 3rd WR in this league,
how much would you say is on harvin, and how much is on his QB?
Yeah - I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that they went from Favre's 7.1 net yards per attempt in 2009 (and 5.7 in 2010) to Ponder's 5.3 in 2011 and 2012.
Additionally, Harvin was #3 in YAC for the entire NFL in 2012, so it's not like he just catches the ball 10 yards down the field and falls down like Ike Hilliard. He's working for those yards.
Which means he was running even shorter routes than Ike. The QB excuse is clever except that you can pick mediocre YPC and few catches or a lot of catches and awful YPC. He's just not that good because he's an athlete not a WR at this point.
That's part of the NFL these days. How do you think QB's throw for almost 70% now? It isn't from chucking low success bombs 40 yards down the field. Here were the top 10 players in YAC for 2012: 1. Welker, 2. Sproles, 3. Harvin, 4. Calvin Johnson, 5. Demaryius Thomas, 6. Andre Johnson, 7. Michael Crabtree, 8. Randall Cobb, 9. Dez Bryant, 10. Ray Rice. Now either Harvin is a total outlier and the only player on this list who isn't really good, or he is actually really good.
You miss that the first 3 guys are all slot runners basically and not good WRs. Why do they have good YAC? They catch the ball at to LOS or near it under coverage and then run to where good WRs actually start from catching ball. Put another way anyone I force tha ball to a lot underneath will rack up a ton of YAC.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.
