Cheater Nelson Cruz gets to play and he hits well against Price.
----------

Rangers Will Add Suspended All-Star Nelson Cruz To Their Roster For Monday’s Play-In Game

As if things wouldn’t be tough enough for the Rays having to play a tiebreaker game in Arlington on Monday night, now the Rangers will have an extra All-Star in their lineup with the return of Nelson Cruz, the Rangers announced today.

Cruz was hitting .269 with 27 home runs in 108 games when he was suspended by Major League Baseball for 50 games for using performance-enhancing drugs and his role in the Biogenesis scandal. His 50-game suspension ended with today’s win over the Angels that clinched a spot in the play-in game against the Rays.

Cruz’s history against David Price may have been a factor in the decision to have Cruz play on Monday. In his career, Cruz is 9-21 (.429) with three home runs against Monday’s starter for the Rays.

The Rangers were mum about whether or not they would welcome Cruz back for the postseason. That question was answered after today’s game.

Rays, Rangers to play Game 163 to decide second AL wild card

As @TBTimes_Rays reports, David Price will start Monday night for #Rays. #Rangers expected to start LHP Martin Perez

After 162 games, we still have playoff uncertainty. The Rays and Rangers are even at 91-71 for the second AL wild card and they'll meet Monday night in Arlington to determine who goes into the postseason.

On Sunday, the Rays staved off a Blue Jays comeback for a 7-6 win, and the Rangers defeated the Angels at home by a score of 6-2.

Monday night's tiebreaker will begin at 8:07 pm EST, and, as mentioned, Texas will host by virtue of their 4-3 record against the Rays in the regular season. It will be the 20th tiebreaker game in MLB history and the first since Twins topped the Tigers in 2009 to decide the AL Central title.

As for the pitching match-ups, here's this tweet from our own Scott Miller ...

The winner of this play-in will advance to face the Indians in the AL wild-card game on Wednesday in Cleveland. The winner of that game will face the top-seeded Red Sox in the ALDS.

Gotta feel for these guys - road trip to finish season, sweep the stinking Yankees, then nearly choke it all away vs Toronto- now a one game playoff for another one game playoff the following night-

He will say Maddon let Price throw too many pitches to be ready for the Boston series.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.
