Had a thought last night. Is the Revis Trade being held up because of the Eric Wright Grievance? Maybe, just maybe the Bucs and Jets are looking at swapping CB's in this deal and until that situation is resolved with Wright there can be no deal. This deal could be a package of picks and plays.

what are the caps on both players. some reason I thought Wright's was actually higher for this year.

Not sure about Revis. Wright's is 7.75 million unless the Bucs win their Grievance. then the Bucs are on the hook for only 2.25 million.

Jets while having to pay $1 million this weekend to Revis save $3 million in cap hit if they trade him afterwards.  And Revis isn't in the country until the weekend making it pretty impossible for Bucs doctors to take a look at him.  Given the way free agency is going, I would bet Revis to Bucs is basically done between the clubs pending physical, and contract talks with agent.  Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if compensation to Jets varies based on what Revis ends up agreeing to.  i.e. if we get him for $12 million, giving up the first is more palatable then if we get him for $16 million.

Revis is scheduled to make $6 million in 2013. In addition to his $3 million base salary, Revis has a $1 million fifth day of the league year (March 16th) roster bonus, a $1 million training camp reporting bonus and a $1 million offseason workout bonus. His 2013 salary cap number is $9 million.

Adding in the $1mil hit they are about to take they would be saving $250k to switch from Revis to Wright. Ouch

where are you getting the 2.25 from? Under the original deal, Wright's salary in 2013 was guaranteed at $7.75 mil. If the guarantee goes away and he plays anywhere his cap hit is still $7.75 mil. If he's cut, it's zero.

Happy and Peppy and Bursting with love.

SR wrote in one of his article about Wright that the Bucs would save 5.5 million in cap space. It's his guaranteed money that is in question I think.

The grievance ruling was due Tuesday. The Bucs probably won and may be negotiating a new deal with Wright

If that's the case, his deal is going to be much more favorable to the bucs as this years FA crop is not getting paid...

I think I'd be ok with him as long as he took a way cheaper deal...

Go get Bridgewater.   Do what it takes.

I think the Revis issue makes it more likely.  I am not sure what the general view is but Wright as the second CB to Revis with our safeties would not be that bad

That's gotta sting a little, knowing he's being held accountable for his actions.
