im not sure why you guys think this mock is so out of whack.  the draft isnt a box.  a team could easily like what trufant brings more than milliner.  a team could easily think mingo has measurables that werner doesnt.

true

werner and mingo project at different postions so thats a valid point. a 3-4 team isnt going to take werner to play olb and a 4-3 team wont want mingo to play DE

my issue with this mock is the terrible picks for a lot of the teams that dont make any sense

I think Austin has a lot of talent and upside, but I don't think he's the kind of guy who can contribute right away. He'll have to do a lot of adjusting to bigger, faster and smarter DBs in the NFL. He should be a 2nd or 3rd round pick. However, his upside is so high that someone is going to grab him. I hope, if Trufant is gone, we take Star.

Last year they said the Colts would take RG3.

Yep. Florio is such a tool.

Sure there is an adjustment period, the kid is going to be a rookie in the NFL...but his skill set will allow him to expedite the learning curve.  He would add a dynamic to this offense and special teams that this town has rarely, if ever, seen.

He could easily receive 8 touches per game as a slot WR, RB, return specialist.  That is more the Vincent Jackson had.  He averaged 6 touches.

This offense has no game breakers, no speed.  Austin gives this offense and special teams special playmaking and game breaking ability.  Special players like this ought not be overlooked, and if Schi/Dom look elsewhere so be it.   But remember, in last year's draft they went against conventional wisdom and picked a safety.

i think picking a 5'8" WR at #13 is against conventional wisdom as well.

This.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

His talent is worth #13.

It also depends what you think a mock draft should be. If you think it's a prediction of what's going to happen, it's probably a fail. If it's what you think teams should do, going outside the box if fine.

There\'s a very real chance the Bucs waive [Revis] before next season. At the very least, it will be a discussion worth having.

Receiver is a novelty position, with a high bust rate. We also have two good receivers on the roster, while we have gaping holes at other positions.  This peticular receiver is also only 5'8, which doesn't mesh well with our innacurate QB who consistently overthrows his targets. Id assume anyone who likes this pick plays far too much Madden.

What is Madden?  You mean the former coach of the Oakland Raiders.  What does he have to do with drafting a WR @ 13?

Im not saying im for drafting Austin (Ive been on the STAR bandwagon for a long time and still think he should be the pick assuming we nab Revis) but it does make some sense.
- Sorely needed speed
- 2 positions addressed with 1 pick (Slot/KR)
- Schiano's familiarityfrom WVU

Not my choice but it could be worse.

All that said, this is a turd of a mock.

As talented as anyone might think Tavon is , it is stupid to draft a guy that won't be an every down player 13th overall. Slot wr is not an every down player , especially in our offense, whose goal is to be a ground and pound running team.

If we already had a playoff team and could afford luxury picks , maybe. As of now ,  it won't happen.
