Kendall Hunter is coming off of an Achilles injury and may not be ready for training camp. Gore is Gore... resilient, but often injured and getting up there in war and tear.

If they want Aso badly enough, they have to make room for him.

Why get rid of a good corner for a not good older one?

The beat writer out there, Matt Maiacco, says they want Aso to compete for Rogers starting spot.  It could be they want Aso to give them cap relief.

Quote
If Nnamdi Asomugha signs w/ 49ers, he'll compete against Carlos Rogers. 49ers will not cut Rogers because he might be better than Asomugha.

Yeah, they won't cut Rogers... but would they trade him?

They've got 15 picks in the draft. Why make a trade for a backup running back when they can draft a starter who would also cost less?

They are Super Bowl bound....why would they trade away their players now?

For some reason, they're looking to get Nnamdi as a possible upgrade to Rogers. I think they weren't happy with the way they matched up against Harvin.  Now, they get to see him in their division.

How do you know they are replacing Rodgers and not just adding Nnamdi? I mean, Culliver is pretty good...but their crop of CBs is far from spectacular.

Salary cap.  It's the only thing that even makes sense to me as to why they want Nnamdi.

Rodgers makes $7.4M this year, which is a good amount....but I think Nnamdi would cost just as much.

Really?  In this year's market? After what he did in philly?  I think he'll go for a lot less.

He'd be a great fit for the Steelers. Good thing Raheem isn't here anymore...he'd probably agree to trade Blount to his boy Tomlin for a bag of chips.

Also...Rogers isn't good, he just looked like it playing with a bunch of reaaallly good players on that Niners defense. He was trash for the Redskins before he got there.

A bunch of scrub CBs got $5M to $6M a year in FA. Nnamdi was considered a top 2 CB a few years ago. If a team wants to sign him, they mist believe that his time with the Eagles was a fluke and he doesn't really suck. I don't think he's worth anything, but I bet he'll end up getting around $7M on a short term deal.
