Think it would take more than a fourth rounder to move up into the mid to late 20s from 43.  Don't think a fourth is going to do it.  So I pose this question:  would you be willing to give up the 2nd and 3rd to grab a 1st round DL like Jones?  And before you immediately shot this down consider that the only glaring need in this team now is improving the pass rush and this would be a solid attempt to do that.  Still think we should have just kept Bennett  but that's a dead horse.

Jones may end up being a decent player, but does he do anything the DE's on the roster don't already do? Like Clayborn and Bowers, he's on the big side for a 4-3 DE, has decent speed, and isn't very explosive.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

I'm surprised Datone Jones hasn't received more attention. Personally I like Werner and Carradine as my top DEs, but Datone Jones is right there as my 3rd favorite. He'd be a great pick in the 2nd round. I don't think he'll make it that far though.

No.  That's why I'm not crazy about him, Warner, or Okafor.  All decent players but not really anything different.  Like to see a speed rusher like Moore or Lemonier.

1- de datone jones (swap 3rds and give pats a fourth to trade up)
3- cb logan ryan
3- lb kaseeme green (trade blount and 6th to trade up)
5- dt jordan hill
6- rb knile davis

Our defense would be KILLER!!!!!!!!!! Go get andre smith ot thru free agency and we will be as complete as any other team.

If we had the 29th pick would you be happy with moving to 43 for a fourth rounder in return?  Hell No!  So why would NE?   When we did it last year it was only 6 spots.  Think it would take the 2nd and the 3rd to get into the 20s.

NE only has 4 picks this year or something like that. They would welcome gaining more picks I think.

I think he could fall to based on the teams ahead of us, he has a very good motor, decent speed and some pass rushing moves kinda reminds me of jj watt on the fact that he is a huge 4-3 de and is non stop in pursuit

Bowers led the nation with 15.5 sacks his last year. He's healthy now. I expect big things from him this year. Still like to add a speed guy to the DE mix.

Actually we moved 6 spots by merely swapping 4ths with Denver.

Later we moved up 13 spots from the 3rd into the 2nd, by giving up a 4th. In addition to moving 13 spots, we also received an extra 7th.

Big difference between 13 spots in the late 1st and late 2nd.  Obviously Denver knew they could still get their guy but whoever Belichick has an eye on at 29 won't be there st 43.  Answer the question.  If Dom made that move that people think Belichick might would you be happy about it or would you be calling for his job?

Patriots don't have many picks and would lobe to have an extra 4th and 6th. All I'm saying.

They also might be interested because the meat of this draft is between pick 25 and 75. They can probably get just a good of player at 43 as they can at 29......which is why I personally don't want to see us trade up.
