I don't like it, and was hoping for it to be lower, but it would still be worth it.

Trouble is, you pay him, and then maybe freeman next season...someone else will have to go soon after.
Someone like Davin, Penn, Koenon.. We could weather those losses.

Yes, but everyone needs to be aware of this fact before saying sign MW.

If freeman excels it's going to be all of those guys. Possibly more.

Naismith was right about Revis. Everyone else is a dummy.

I'm sure everyone is aware.

Bucs will be fine financially.

Until preseason, you stay classy Red Board.

I thought Lovie said he wanted quickness & speed, even at the QB position?

What more can the guy do ?

Pretty good player, appears to be a good team mate.

And stays out of trouble.

I don't know what else he can do.

\\\\\\\"Java, do you understand this a perfect example of why people beg me to suspend or ban you on a daily basis? Are you actually trying to make a point? Seriously what is the reason for even commenting. In fact why do you even bother coming to the boards? What happened to the intelligent poster from years ago?  A real shame. Like the Bucs yesterday, a wasted effort.\\\\\\\"

I am surprise they didn't ask for more. 5yr/$35 million should be signed today.

Mike Wallace averages $12M per year.

Dwayne Bowe's new contract averages $11.2M per year.

Percy Harvin averages $11.2M per year.

DeSean Jackson averages $9.4M per year.

Santanio Holmes averages $9M per year.

30 year old Greg Jennings just got $9M per year.

Pierre Garcon averages $8.5M per year.

Sidney Rice averages $8.2M per year.

Antonio Brown averages $7.2M per year.

Robert Meachem averages $6.5M per year.

Brian Hartline averages $6.2M per year.

Josh Morgan averages $5.9M per year.

So as Mike Williams agent, I am pointing at this list and and I'm comparing Mike's stats compared to these guys, and I am coming to the conclusion that Mike is near the top of this list and deserves $9M to$10M per year...maybe more. The Market gets to dictate Mike's value, not the Bucs. So if we can resign him to a long term deal that averages $8M per year or less.....we should jump on it. Vincent Jackson is great, but he is 30 years old and likely only a short term answer.

How many of those are #1 receivers? I'd make a list solely of #2 seeing how he's proven he isn't a #1 yet.

Robert Meachem is getting 6.5 a year .....wow what a joke...

He had 14 catches for 200 yards last season , lol.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

Well that might be the Bucs counter argument, but production is production...and when you look at Mike's catches, yards, and TDs compared to the guys on that list.....he is at the top. The closest comparison to Mike is Dwayne Bowe, and Bowe makes $11.2M per year.

Besides, Mike was the #1 for the first two years of his career. Last year was his first year as the #2. 2011 was a horrible year for everyone involved with the Bucs, but as a rookie in 2010 Mike showed he could be a solid #1 receiver. If Jackson gets hurt, Mike can step into that role and produce. We know this because he already has.

Look at Pierre Garcon's career stats....and he makes $8.5M  :-[

Sidney Rice isn't much better and he makes $8.2M

I think these are the two guys Mike's agent will point to. Mike is head and shoulders above these two clowns and so he should be paid more.

Mike is a different breed of wideout.

He is a pure high riser, an acrobat.  I really cannot think of any wideout that plays the game the way 19 does.  Just a different style.  very entertaining to watch.  Baller.  Bucs drafted him, he is flat out one of the better deuces/quasi #1 in the entire league.  Pay the man.  He earned it.

In case anyone forgot, Williams has only been on the team three seasons and is already #12 in receiving yards. After this season he'll in all likelihood be #6. If the Bucs re-sign him, he'll be the franchise leader in receiving yards after the 2015 season.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.
