Cornerback Darrelle Revis continued to work out on his own during the first day of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, but his schedule and workload will change dramatically when training camp begins.

Bucs general manager Mark Dominik said Monday that he expects Revis to be in pads and working with the rest of the team when full contact camp drills begin. The Bucs won’t allow Revis to overdo it, though.

Dominik said Revis, who is recovering from a season-ending knee injury suffered during Week 3 of last season while with the New York Jets, will continue to be limited to some degree, much like all other Bucs players recovering from season ending injuries.

“With a guy like that, even next year I’ll say, ‘Hey coach, let’s limit that guy, he’s kind of good.’ ” Dominik said. “But, yes, he’s going to practice. Will he be full participation every play, absolutely not. I would never do that.’’

Limiting Revis may prove hard to do. Revis has been aggressively attacking his rehab program, Bucs coach Greg Schiano said, adding late afternoon and weekend workouts to the regimen to get ready for the start of the season.

“I think he and (head trainer) Todd Toriscelli and (strength coach) Jay Butler have really locked arms and are working incredibly hard to get better, but there’s no substitute for the player,’’ Schiano said.

“The player has to be willing to do it and you talk about putting in overtime, Darrelle is putting in overtime – late afternoons, weekends. None of that’s required, but this guy, his rehab, he’s pretty aggressive.’’

So far you have to love Darrelle's drive and professionalism. Hopefully he'll be on the field with teamates before we know it.

Toriscelli knows how to handle knee injuries. I expect big things from Revis and Clayborn

Revis has been nothing but a hard worker his whole entire time in the NFL.

The only crap that should get thrown his way is his contract negotiations with the jets, and as we've seen, they're not that good at any kind of talks whatsoever.

Revis will pretty much be the VJ of the defensive side for years to come.

Naismith was right about Revis. Everyone else is a dummy.

They are taking their time with him, and that is a good thing.  We are lucky that knee got wrecked the first week of the season,  and not the last.  But even if it was the last week of the season, he would of still had a normal recovery time of 6-8 months.  Those extra few months are just a bonus in his recovery.  I trust he will be 100% for training camp.
