Keeping Barron in the Box the entire game with just one safety over the top for the entire game is a terrible idea, and no one does that. The Bucs only did that last year on less than 17% of their plays. Now if you want to keep Black and Goldson back deep and have Barron be the 7th man in the box, then that is a different story...but keeping 8 men in the box most of the game is not plausible, unless you are playing Adrian Peterson and he has already run for 100+ on you and an adjustment is needed. All teams on their majority of their plays will have two safeties back 12-15 yards+ off of the ball on most of their snaps. It's a passing league. Goldson is better in coverage than Barron...but he is not good enough in coverage to cover the back half of the field for the majority of the game. Some will say, "well, we had Ronde in the box or up near the LOS against the Falcons in week 17 on almost ever snap that game"....while that is true and Barber was played int he box and up near the LOS for nearly the whole game, we still had 2 safeties back deep in Barron and Black/Tandy the whole game. Also, Barron is not needed in run D. The Bucs had the number 1 run D last year because their front 7 played excellent vs the run. The DL did a great job penetrating and letting the LBs have clean shots at the ball carrier. Even if the Bucs didn't have Barron last year, they still would have been #1 vs the run. Barron was there for clean up duty and was a safety net in case something broke through the fist line of defense. Barron is a safety and we need our safeties to be in coverage in either ZC or M2M on TEs or 3rd and 4th WRs. How Schiano uses his safeties, they will have equal responsibilities in pass coverage. Keeping Barron up close to or in "the box" for most of the year as some have suggested is unrealistic....unless they want to change him into sort of a roamer/SLB position and keep Black and Goldson on the field back deep the majority of plays.

Play them for the run. Man up with safety help alternating for the seventh run box job, run the ball and play action. Beat the hell out of Sanchez.

Play the run on the way to the quarterback.

Doesn't every coach say this?
