Heard on 620 this morning our beast of a DT GMC trimmed 25lbs and is sittin at about 280lbs. Just seems to me very light for a DT. Little concerned he could potentially wear down constantly taking on double teams as he typically does. 16 games plus potential playoffs.... anybody else potentially concerned?

Not at all.. He knows his body and where he plays his best at. He's probably in great shape right now and it will be easier to put back on a few pounds if need be.

280 is crazy light for a DT.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

Especially for a guy that's 6'4".  That's a DE size.

I honestly hope your right young one. Man of his size I'm assuming could put on weight as needed, if needed, but I would of felt much more comfortable as a Bucs fan showing up around 305 or so. But nonetheless, we will all find out very soon.

If he's 280 and stronger then that should be mostly muscle. 280 lbs of muscle is functionally better than being 305 lbs carrying more fat. McCoy game is about explosiveness and disruption, if he weighed more then you might take a little bit away from that ridiculous first step that he has.

Muscle weighs more than fat though , so if he put on a ton of muscle it would be hard to lose 20 pounds. He was never really obese to begin with.

So long as he's STRONGER cardiovascularily, this will ultimately help him later in games in key situations when heavier O'linemen get more fatigued.
If defenses continue to double-team McCoy, I EXPECT Spence, who is already a tremendous all-round athlete and crazy-strong, to have a field day. I think the Bucs' plan in taking Spence was to get some of those double teams off McCoy.
Defenses should be far more challenged to keep their QBs upright when Spence gets rollin'. Supposedly he's already got some pass-rush skills, so we might not have to wait long...

The energy you burn after your supply of sugars is exhausted is fat.

I'm not too concerned.  I think that he can add most of that weight back over a month if needed.  Adding is easier that losing.

if things go well he may not face as many double teams as he has in the past

Think we all get lost in the numbers.  He said he lost 20 pounds because he enjoyed the
Pro Bowl food and wedding break.

He is only 10 pounds below his target weight which as others have mentioned could really be a non-issue if he is stronger.
