its ridiculous.  how are these guys supposed to tackle?  like dj swearinger?  i assumed that the refs would throw a flag...which makes the fine all the more perplexing.

That's bull**CENSORED**.

Remember when ESPN would have a segment called "Jacked Up" and it would show the hard hits of the week. John Lynch got pissed one week because he wasn't featured so the following week he had 3 in the top 5? Does anyone remember that? Or better yet have video of it? It was when he was a Bronco.

The proper technique on that play was to politely offer him some tea and play some patty cake before asking him to take a knee. It's right there in the Goodell handbook, section 5 paragraph 12.

Time to get the flags on the waist bands is just around the corner....

Intredasting JDub.  I do indeed see that in there, but is there a waiver to be signed in the event the tea is dangerously warm?

Getting fined for hitting too hard now? That was a clean hit.

How the hell is that clear as day? His helmet could be behind the left shoulder of the ball carrier. That looks like a clean leading with the shoulder hit to me.

Cracking down on pieces of garbage like James Harris who literally launch themselves with their arms by their sides with their crowns leading into other people is fine and needs to happen. Those hits are absolutely dirty and have no place in football. IMO, cut blocking is the same thing.

bostin wrapped up, drove through. What the hell?

Goodell is trying his damnedest to cover the future and current state of lawsuits V. The League.

In the process, he knows it is impossible to follow these rules when the players are at that moment, so he steals their game checks to enrich the NFL coffers and take away from the actual players. Fine the guys like 40k, but give it to the player who got hit. He is the one who deserves it. Not the league coffers.

I heard Bostic, on his current contract, was only getting paid $900 for that preseason game.  So he's in the hole $20,100.  Youch.

The p*sstfication of the NFL is truly a sad and disturbing trend, and disturbingly it mirrors the trend of the country at large. Pretty soon we will all be lap dogs watching two-hand touch. Sad indeed.
