Quote
Ben Affleck will replace Christian Bale as Batman in the highly anticipated Batman-Superman movie that's scheduled to be released on July 17, 2015.

Warner Bros. made the announcement on Thursday.

Affleck, 41, will star opposite Henry Cavill's Superman in the as-yet-untitled film, which was unveiled in July at Comic-Con. It's a sequel to this summer's Man of Steel, a re-imagining of the superhero's origin story that also starred Cavill and has pulled in more than $650 million worldwide since its June release, according to The Wrap.

Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will reprise their Man of Steel roles in the sequel, which is expected to begin production in 2014.

"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman," director Zack Snyder said in a statement. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retains the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him."

Affleck, who recently starred in and directed 2012 best-picture winner Argo, has previous experience in those superhero tights -- he played Marvel Comics' Daredevil in the 2003 film of the same name and starred as troubled 1950s Superman actor George Reeves in 2006's Hollywoodland.

What a terrible choice for Batman.

He has become a damn good director and he has been a pretty decent actor in the right role, but no way he fits the character of Batman.

Daredevil went so well, so I don't see how this could possibly end badly.

I'm apparently in the minority but I haven't cared for any if the Batman movies but I will say this, Bale is a much better actor.

I'd like to see Kuechly or Ryan Kerrigan as Batman.

That would be interesting. I would of liked to see William Shatner play Batman myself.

Kuechly kind of looks like Kick Ass.  And plays like him too.

Affleck has come a long ways as an actor...but I agree...it's in certain rolls and I just can't see him as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Daredevil was bad...but more because the script was horrible. I think there were a ton of better actors out there that would fit the part. With that said, as long as they don't make him say much. Make him uber smart and detective like and give him lots more gadgets...then fine. I felt like they dumbed down the Dark Knight Batman and took away all his cool gadgets. What makes him so awesome is he's never outsmarted by his opponents and he has all the toys for any situation. He can fight Superman because he always has Kryptonite on him...lol. As long as they do that...I will give Affleck a chance...but if they try to portray the same Batman with Affleck...he's going to bomb.

Whoa...shiver me ****in timbers!

Affleck doesn't have the intimidating persona of a Batman. Spiderman I can see, but not batman.

A young Shatner would have been a great Batman.
